About this property

Fjordside Boathouse Hardanger

Welcome to Hallvardsnaustet once a traditional boatbuilder’s workshop where wooden boats were crafted by hand. Many of the original tools and machines are still preserved in the event venue, which also serves as a seasonal summer restaurant.

The apartment spans the top two floors of the boathouse and offers a unique and spacious stay right by the fjord. It’s a perfect base for exploring Hardanger beyond the usual tourist routes.
Wake up to the sound of the waves and a small creek flowing onto the beach, enjoy breakfast on the dock, and experience the quieter side of fjord life — far from crowds and bus tours.

If you enjoy hiking, I’m happy to share local mountain treks across a range of difficulty levels — from gentle scenic walks to more demanding mountain hikes. These are personal favorites and lesser-known routes that most visitors never find, offering incredible views and a true sense of the landscape. I can also advise on iconic hikes such as Trolltunga, Bondhusvatnet, and Dronningstien, but my preference is always for hidden gems where you can have the mountain to yourself.

Within walking distance, you’ll also find a watersports center where you can rent kayaks, canoes, sit-on-top kayaks, SUP boards, and more (run by the local spors club and the rates are fair). At the same location, there’s a well equiped gym, a running track and a fjord sauna, where you can start with a refreshing cold plunge directly into the icy water.

Please note: On some weekends, there may occasionally be sound from weddings and other celebrations held in the event venue below.
