About this property

YULE CREEK LODGE-Quintessential Mountain Cabin on 53 Private Acres

The mission of the Yule Creek Lodge is to provide friends and families a place to gather to enjoy the abundant pleasures of life in the mountains.

Located on 53 acres, mostly bordering National Forest, the lodge has a welcoming feel with the comforts of home. In the winter, the cabin gives easy access to some of the sweetest backcountry and nordic skiing in Colorado, along with with big views and privacy. Skin up to Marble Peak or No Name Peak or head to the quiet nordic trails found in and above the Crystal Valley. Plenty of sledding, snow shoeing and adventure opportunities are found all over the property for hours of fun for everyone.

In the winter the cabin is set up like a mountain hut. That means you bring your bedding to put on top of flannel covered beds. Pillows are provided. *No cleaning or linen fee is charged in the winter.

In the summer months there will be linens provided with an additional fee.

In the summer the opportunities are endless. The Raspberry Ridge trailhead is just steps away from the front door. Without getting in the car you can access pristine trout fishing as well as explore the town of Marble on foot. The Yule Creek Lodge is the perfect base camp to explore the Yule Lakes, Lead King Basin, Anthracite Pass, and many other high alpine adventures.

This off the grid home includes running water, a shower, indoor bathroom, refrigerator, gas cooking stove and fireplace.

The kitchen carries enough pots/pans, cutlery, plates, bowls etc. to cook and serve 10 people.

Be sure to get your provisions before you head to the Lodge as the town of Marble is not reliable for food and drink.

Sleeps: 10
Master Bedroom: queen sized bed and a Pack-n-Play in the closet.
Upstairs open sleeping plan with a view: 1 queen bed, 1 queen sized futon bed, 2 sets of Bunk Beds

1 Dog Bowl
We love our animals too! We ask that you respect the no pets on the beds request.

We have added wi-fi access with fairly high speed.

Gorgeous valley views

Yule creek lodge is situated in the heart of Marble and has spectacular views! Check in process was easy and the owner responded quickly to me with a question I had. What a lovely home!! Check out slow groovin' BBQ for some delicious food too! What a gem of a town Marble is.

Aspen Tree Retreat

The cabin was comfortable and well stocked with household necessities. You probably need a high clearance vehicle to get past the rut at the top of the driveway. It was wonderful to have such beautiful views of the mountains. We also enjoyed walking down the two-track tothe south side of Beaver Lake and over to Lower Yule Creek Falls. As with any cabin in the woods there are many little woodland creatures so don't leave snacks around for them to help themselves to. All in all it is nice cabin in a nice location.

Outstanding

Beyond being a beautiful home, on beautiful property, in a beautiful remote town…this was one of the most relaxing vacation stays ever. It’s hard to describe how cozy and relaxing it is, just have to experience it for yourself. I wish we could live there. The only thing that made up for having to leave was the beautiful drive along the Crystal river to Crested Butte.

Enjoyed a 6 day break from the summer heat and this place. We have young kids and we appreciated that this place, while clean and suitable for adults, also worked really well with younger kids too!

Spectacular

We were slightly concerned with “roughing it” in the off-grid cabin but found it had everything we needed and we were super comfortable. Definitely would come back again! Kids loved the wildflowers and wild raspberries.

Peaceful Getaway

This cabin is located in one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen. When we were there, we experienced below 0 degree temperatures, but the cabin stayed toasty warm! The cabin was stocked with the essentials and the only thing lacking was a TV and a microwave. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and even had a red fox visit us on Christmas morning! If you want to get away from it all, we highly recommend this property. The only suggestion for the host would be to plow the driveway in the winter. It was very difficult to get things to and from the cabin, even with the use of the sled.

A great thanksgiving retreat!

Such a wonderful experience staying at the Yule Creek Lodge while celebrating our 4th annual friendsgiving. The lodge was so clean and cozy, we were pleasantly surprised by the kitchen amenities. The stove/oven was practically new and cooked our turkey wonderfully. 10/10 experience!

A few days in the Mountains

The property was perfect- spacious, clean, private, beautiful views with everything we needed to be comfortable. We enjoyed the hike to Yule Creek Falls and especially loved the quarry road views. The Ranger ride to the ruins of the Crystal Mill was so much fun and of course you can’t explain the beauty- pictures do not do it justice. Would highly recommend and would love to come back.

Family Reunion Saved!

At the very last minute Christina was able to save my family reunion! Our previous stay was inaccessible due to weather, but we found this home and it was perfect. The space is amazing and the location is beautiful. Lots of sledding hills, snowshoe trails, and places to play in the snow. Loved our stay!

Peaceful Getaway

Yule Creek Lodge was a great location for a family getaway. It's just outside downtown Marble, so there is still a fair amount of traffic on the road, but the cabin sits away from the road so it feels secluded and private. We had plenty of space and took our 4 wheelers up the road to see the quarry as well as to see the Crystal Mill. I would definitely come here again!

Mountain Cabin in the Aspen - Beautiful Fall Colors!

We had a great, quiet, getaway with our pooch who loved hiking in the area. The cabin is perfect and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - we only used one bed but it was very comfy. It’s a plenty walkable location and we walked into town, up the Raspberry Trail and over to Yule Creek from the cabin - the truck stayed behind Sadly no wildlife sightings on this trip so we’ll just have to come back and try again. Overall, a great place and area - we highly recommend it. Jim & Susan

Off the grid cabin with views

Great stay and cute cabin in the woods. The loft was hard to cool down for sleeping, and not all the windows work but beds and linens were comfortable. Parking and driving in and out is definitely not for cars so just know an suv makes more sense. You also have to carry out your trash and take it with you, a little inconvenient but understandable We love Marble and the mountain life overall was a great stay and what we expected knowing the area.

About the host

Hosted by Cristina Akers

Host profile image
There are two super close families that share this amazing place, the Campbells (Jules and Nan) and the Dillards (Scott and Vida). Both families love living in Carbondale and enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities, including mountain biking, hiking, whitewater kayaking, skiing and more. They each have 2 kids: Nevee and Leo Campbell, and Helen and Morgan Dillard.
We were drawn to Marble because of the beauty and remoteness, as well as the backcountry skiing and hiking opportunities. When Scott discovered this magical cabin was for sale in 2013, we worked together to be able to purchase it and share it others.
Jules Campbell is from Vermont and currently works as a ski patroller at Aspen Highlands.
Nan Campbell is a true local, growing up outside of Aspen. She now works as a very talented middle school PE teacher in Carbondale.
Scott Dillard is originally from Alaska, and now works as a realtor in Carbondale.
Vida Dillard is the manager of the lodge and is from Alabama, and North Carolina.

Why they chose this property

From the first time we came to see Yule Creek Lodge we knew that this place was both of our families' dreams in reality. There is so much beauty in the surroundings, warmth and craftsmanship built into the walls, and adventure abounds all around it.
Every minute spent here supports that which we value. Family, Friends and Fun.

What makes this property unique

This cabin is truly unique. Its a log cabin, out in a gorgeous area. There is access to amazing hiking trails, skiing, atving, hunting, fishing and more, just outside the door. And amazing opportunities for just relaxing on the porch and soaking in the spectacular views.
