About this property
Bittersweet Retreat on Willsboro Point, home with lake access
Enjoy our fully renovated home, thoughtfully designed with travelers in mind. This cozy yet modern house is perfect for relaxing, recharging, and exploring. Inside, you’ll find two comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. The living room is ideal for unwinding after a day of adventure. Outside, enjoy the grill & fire pit. Beach access is just half a mile away. There is a studio attached to the house with its own separate entrance that may be occupied by us, the owners.
Our home was fully renovated inside and out as of summer 2025, and we truly want it to feel like your home away from home. The house features two cozy bedrooms with queen-sized beds, comfortably sleeping four guests, and two full bathrooms. For groups of five, we provide an air mattress that fits in one of the bedrooms.
Step inside the home and feel instantly at ease. The open kitchen and living room create a warm, welcoming space perfect for gathering, cooking, or simply relaxing after a day of exploring. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare meals at home, and just off the kitchen, you’ll find a sunny deck that opens onto a spacious backyard — ideal for lawn games, roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, or stargazing under clear Adirondack skies.
A pantry off the kitchen includes a washer-and-dryer-in-one for your convenience, preloaded with detergent via a SmartDispense system. The living room offers a Smart TV, plenty of books, as well as puzzles and games. Reliable WiFi in the home keeps you connected.
Guests have full access to the main house. There is an attached studio which we, the owners, may be occupying unless otherwise traveling ourselves. Each space has its own separate and independent entrance. If we’re home, we're always happy to answer questions or offer local recommendations, but aim to give you as much space as you'd like. Long- and short-term stays are possible, and remote work is easy with our reliable internet.
We genuinely want our guests to feel comfortable, cared for, and at home. As avid travelers ourselves, we’ve stayed in many short-term rentals and have tried to think of all the little touches that make a stay relaxing and memorable.
You’ll have access to a private community beach just half a mile away (a pleasant 10-minute walk or a very short drive) and a marina just as close. There’s also a public boat launch a half mile away. The charming town of Essex is only 12 minutes away, where you can catch the ferry for a beautiful trip to Vermont, taking in the gorgeous views of the lake and the mountains. We’re about an hour from Lake Placid, 40 minutes from the High Peaks region, and close to countless scenic trails, including the Champlain Area Trails system. Ausable Chasm nearby is also a must-visit. Terrific mountain biking trails are an easy 25 minute drive away in Elizabethtown. You’ll even find a public pickleball court nearby.
There are several great local restaurants, plus a Village Meat Market and Dollar General in town for essentials. Please note - the closest grocery store is the Tops in Elizabethtown, about 25 minutes away. We recommend stopping in Glens Falls/Queensbury for groceries if coming from the south or Plattsburgh if coming from the north.
We welcome all guests, and love meeting new people and sharing this beautiful region with travelers from near and far. Whether you’re here for outdoor adventures or peaceful downtime, we hope you’ll feel right at home and create lasting memories.
Guest access:
Guests have access to the main house as well as the sizable back yard with charcoal grill and fire pit. They can also access a private beach a few minutes’ walk down the road.
Other things to note:
We are very receptive to feedback so if there is anything we can do to make this a better stay for guests, please let us know!
Please be mindful and considerate of neighbors and the community and try to keep the volume level down from 10pm-7am. The people who live nearby are incredibly friendly and take a lot of pride in this beautiful region. We hope you enjoy it as much as they and we do!
