We had a great stay at the house, it was bigger than pictured, clean, the location was amazing. It was missing beach chairs, you would think a house on the ocean would provide those, but besides that our stay was wonderful.
We did have a very poor experience with the rental management company upon check in. The house was completely vacant before our arrival, no one checked out that day, the cleaning was done... and yet they said we could not check in early unless we paid a $114 fee, and if we paid the fee we can check in 2 hours early. We have several properties ourselves on VRBO for 10+ years and are frequent travelers... and NEVER have I heard of an early check in fee, let alone one as steep as $114. Especially since the house was just sitting there unoccupied & clean. We have always allowed guests to check in early as a kind thing to do... not to try & gouge them for more money.
Even hotels allow early check in if the room is ready.
We had hundreds of dollars of catering food leftover from our sons wedding the night before and they wouldn't even allow us to throw it in the fridge so it didn't spoil. So much for southern hospitality! I would recommend they find a new rental management company that cares about their guests and isn't trying to make a extra buck any way possible.
