About this property

Vila Zora, Apartment Čedca: your new mountain home

What is your new home in the mountains like?

Located in the heart of an Alpine valley, surrounded by meadows and forests and dramatic north faces of Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Vila Zora offers you two newly renovated apartments on the upper floor of a 1930s villa. Renovated with in-house craftsmanship, care for locally sourced materials, and attention to tiny details which make a stay comfortable, relaxed, and insightful.

Ever wanted an in-house local guide, an experienced mountaineer and mountain rescuer to help you make the most of your stay in the mountains? Well, you got two of them, as your hosts live on site. Never skipping an opportunity to enjoy fresh goods from the garden? You get them right here as we are also one of the tiniest farms in Slovenia, growing vegetables and herbs and berries and more than happy to share the seasonal bounty. Ever wished for an expert on Alpine flora, a botanist and herbalist - or maybe for insights into local traditions and hidden gems from the author of local travel guidebooks? One of each is living just next door, and ready to lend you a hand while you enter into the wonderland we are calling home: Jezersko.

Sustainable living

As we are ourselves trying to live alongside nature and as sustainable as possible, your new dwellings reflect that: solar panels on the roof, energy-saving lights and appliances, waste recycling, avoidance of plastics, conscious water management, natural air conditioning, organic body care and clening products, public transport access, seasonal organic homegrown veggies and fruits and homemade products on offer.

See, we are not only a place to relax and enjoy but also a living and working mountain farm. Or more of a big garden: we grow herbs and berries and vegetables, and produce herbal teas, drinks, salts, jams, liqueurs… It is a tiny scale operation, following more a vision of sustainable and responsible stewardship of the land than pursuit of monetary profits. It is a passion of learning, observing, adjusting to nature, and it is a joy to work with your hands, to help plants thrive, to eat fruits of your own labor. All is grown organically - and part of it is even being certified as such.

In-house craftsmanship, local materials
Our guideline when renovating and furnishing the apartments has been to stick to everything simple, high-quality, sustainable, and as local and authentic as possible. Most of the knowledge, work, and craftsmanship are ours, from walls and carpentry to interior design choices, photos, and these words. Every piece of wood we used can still tell a story of where it lived, as we were with it from the tree onwards, the beech and the spruce and the larch.

In the end, what makes a stay in place meaningful and memorable? The experiences you make, the explorations you venture into, the simple joys of staying in a comfortable place while having outstanding nature at your doorstep: rich biodiversity, forests, mountain streams, dramatic landscapes, night sky full of stars. Or so we think. And so we designed your place, putting functionality above vast echoing rooms, tools and tips to enjoy the outdoors above a TV set, authenticity and personal contact and immersion into the local world above a password protected key lockbox. If you see your next vacation in a similar way, welcome to your new mountain home.
