About this property

Cabin for 6 on 110 acres w/ private 50 acre lake. Float, fish, swim, relax

Just 2 miles from I-35: Cute, comfortable, modern cabin with stunning sunsets that sleeps 6 on a 50+ acre lake all to yourself. Peaceful and safe this is a great place to introduce kids or grandkids to fishing, boating, and open water. No worries about what you forgot to pack. Everything is here including laundry. Show up with your clothes and enjoy.

Hike on the 110 acre property, fish with the trolley motor john boat, swim, and have a fire.

Everything you need is provided including life jackets, fishing gear, firewood, and lake towels. AC and heat in the cabin. Electric burners, toaster oven, microwave, sink, dishes for 6, cooking pots, grilling pans, and full size refrigerator inside. Fire pit, grill, and sink outside. Picnic tables and patio furniture, patio lights, and music on patio as you watch the sun set.

Up to 2 dogs welcome with guests.

Other boats may be available for rental as well depending on maintenance schedules and issues, but you cannot put your own boat on the lake due to possible transfer of invasive species.

A new electric bike with fat tires and a comfort seat is available to rent with miles of quiet roads to explore.

Medical supplies, fire starting supplies like lighter fluid, all needed grilling utensils, small boat cooler, etc. are all here. If something isn’t, Dollar General and a small grocery store are 1 mile away.

Caveat: Everything you need except wifi. Sorry. Cell phone service is good at the cabin and lake, and a hot spot, if you have one, works well. Wifi in the country is always a bit more of a complex situation.

Host profile image
We are new to hosting on a platform, but not new to hosting countless people. We have been managing this property for the previous long term owner and his and our friends, family, and guests for 20+ years. In July of 2025, the former owner wanted to pass his stewardship of the lake and land to us formally thru selling us the property. It was joyous transaction as both parties have a heart for this special place.

As we transition to the primary stewards of this place, we look forward to sharing it with an even wider circle of people thru listing on a platform.

Last July, sitting in a pontoon boat in the middle of the lake as the sun set, with all of our kids and their spouses and significant others, each one shared stories of what the lake meant to them--moments in their lives they needed the peace to sit on the dock, opening the door to a friendship by inviting someone new, spiritual transformation, star gazing, sibling relationship building, enlarging the family circle and showing love to in-laws families by sharing the lake, the cabin as a safe place to stay for relatives in turmoil for a short time. So many moments.

These are the moments that are life giving and lasting. We have a heart to give you an opportunity to have those moments with your people too.

It is not a "perfect place". Nature is a bit messy. So is real life. So are real people. Stuff happens. We are problem solvers when problems or issues occur. We want you and your kids to gain peace and resilience from being in nature. The beauty of the cabin over camping is you have a bit of "1rst world backup amenities".

We have lived at the house 1/4 mile away, looking out on the lake, for more than 20 years. We love it in all seasons and all weather. It is our home. We look forward to meeting you.
