We had an amazing stay at The Baker Farmhouse. We were a family of five and booked this property for 3 nights. The 3 bedrooms were perfect for us. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. The fireplace in the living room adds a nice touch. There is TV in all the rooms. The bathroom was clean and had enough towels. There are farms around it and it is nice to see the cows grazing. The hot tub was nice to soak into after a hike in Shenandoah NP. The outdoor fire pit was nice to have and we spent a lot of time star gazing. During clear skies, you can capture the milky way galaxy and see a lot of stars. Some sunsets are magical. It was a perfect stay overall and would definitely come back to spend more time.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Baker Farmhouse as a family with children. The house was very clean, how to access was clear and easy, and the checkout list was fairly standard with nothing overly above and beyond on it. One note regarding the listing - it mentions a "Jack and Jill" bathroom, which isn't quite true. "Jack and Jill" implies a bedroom on each side with entry into the bathroom between the two rooms. Instead, there is a bedroom located as the middle room with its only access from another bedroom or the bathroom. It's probably not a deal breaker for most, but it is nice to know when trying to figure out who is sleeping where. (It may occasionally require a little bit of patience if you do not want to go through the front bedroom and someone is using the bathroom.) For reference, the photos listed as "Master" is the room you can enter from the hallway at the top of the stairs. The "Second Upstairs Bedroom" is the one located between the Master and the bathroom.Overall, we were pleased with the house and especially the location. It is a fairly short drive into town to find food/groceries. It is also very close to the Thornton Gap entrance into the park. The kids also loved watching the cows on the farm directly across the street from the house.
