Host was not communicating and check-in process was never provided. I received a reservation cancelled by host "because of age" email when it was time to check-in. I'm 71 so not sure where the information on age came from. I left several voicemails and sent emails early Friday, asking about check-in and host never answered. I contacted VRBO care just before check-in time and they could not reach the host either. I ended up staying at what was suppose to be comparable place but it was a cabin in the campground at Cedar Point on opening weekend. The cabin had very few of the amenities I was counting on for my family event. The host did call on Saturday(the second night of my reservation) at 9pm to say I messed up because everyone knows the door is open and key is on table. It's a former gated community so I should have known. I said it would be nice to say that in check-in process and also why didn't he call sooner!!!!

The listing did not include any information about the development being a gated community that required a per day fee for vehicle access as well as a per day fee for each guest of 18.00 per child and 40.00 per adult. This was not discovered until arriving at the gate to the community. The additional fees would have resulted in an additional 604 dollars for my family to stay. However, the community waived the first night's fees because we could not get ahold of the homeowner. Vrbo reimbursed me for the rest of the fees because there was nothing about it in the listing. The house was nice. The front load washer had a considerable amount of mold under the seal which deterred us from using it as well as being plugged into an extension cord which is a dangerous application. The one upstairs bedroom had a window unit air conditioner installed. The other 2 bedrooms had an air conditioner each on the floor that I had to install myself. I had no tools for a proper installation which left gaps. the one installed previously also had gaps, which allowed a large amount of small winged insects in that collected on the ceiling. every night before bed we would have to suck up hundreds of these bugs with a small shop vac I found on the premises. The golf cart did not have any working lights or turn signals so it could not be driven after dusk and did not meet the community requirements laid out in their literature.

Downstairs bathroom electrical outlet did not work. Breaker box in the bedroom closet did not have a cover on it. Could be a fatal hazard for a unknowledgeable person or child. House was very clean, well located. We were very pleased.
