The Jenswold House on Lake Superior with Panoramic Views and Lake Access
The Jenswold House | Historic Lake Superior Retreat
Welcome to the Jenswold House, a beautifully preserved Queen Anne Victorian perched along the shores of Lake Superior. With its timeless character, thoughtful updates, and sweeping views of the water, this home offers a stay that feels both special and deeply relaxing—whether you’re here for a quiet getaway, time with family, or a memorable North Shore visit with friends.
The home features four bedrooms designed to comfortably accommodate families and groups, including a spacious primary bedroom that’s especially well suited for couples looking for a quieter retreat within the home. Three bedrooms are located upstairs along with two full bathrooms, while a fourth bedroom on the main level offers additional flexibility for group stays. A main-level powder room adds extra comfort for everyone.
One of the upstairs bathrooms is especially spacious and inviting, featuring a classic clawfoot soaking tub and a two-person indoor electric sauna—a perfect place to unwind after a day along the lake, on the trails, or exploring Duluth in any season.
The spacious kitchen makes it easy to cook and gather together, and the large dining room comfortably seats everyone around one table—perfect for shared meals, celebrations, or slow mornings before heading out to explore Duluth and the North Shore.
One of the home’s most loved spaces is the lakefront porch overlooking Lake Superior. With sweeping water views and a cozy Jøtul gas fireplace stove, it’s a favorite place to start the day with coffee, watch weather roll across the lake, or wind down in the evening as the light fades over the water.
Inside, you’ll find generous gathering spaces, historic details, and comfortable places to settle in and slow down. Large windows invite in natural light and glimpses of the lake throughout the day, while the home’s original charm creates a sense of warmth that’s hard to replicate. It’s the kind of place where mornings begin quietly with lake views and evenings end with conversation after a full day outdoors.
Whether you’re visiting for adventure along the North Shore, a cozy winter escape, or simply time together in a beautiful setting, the Jenswold House is a place to settle in, breathe deep, and make lasting memories by Lake Superior.

WOW views of Lake Superior! The location is stunning. Incredibly comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen for everything we needed to cook with. We ended up spending most of our time out on the porch overlooking the lake—it was easily our favorite spot and the view made it hard to go inside. The house has so much character and felt comfortable and welcoming throughout our stay. It was a relaxing, memorable place to spend time, and we’d definitely come back.
