Named after iconic Canadian folk singer Joni Mitchell, this intimate wilderness retreat offers 77 wooded acres in Pakenham, a historic rural community on the edge of the Ottawa Valley. The cabin sits between a high valley ridge and a quiet forest, perched above a bubbling brook, creating a tranquil spot to recharge.
Explore rolling hills, maple groves, creeks, and natural artesian springs, or take a day to hike nearby trails and visit the historic villages of Mississippi Mills along the Mississippi River. Don’t miss a stop at the on-site Cartwright Springs Brewery near the main road for a locally crafted refreshment.
BE AWARE The property is shared with guests and visitors of Cartwright Springs Brewery. You may encounter others on the roads or around the property.
WATER Our water is pumped from the creek. Running water is shut off when temperatures dip below freezing. This normally happens mid-October but can vary each year. When running water is shut off, we provide 40L of water for dish washing and drinking. All taps (including shower taps) are turned off. Water is turned back on before the May Long Weekend.
DRIVE-/IN/HIKE-IN ACCESS Drive-in Access : April to December Hike-in Access: December to April (300m from parking area) We provide snowshoes and a sled for gear—embrace the adventure!

OFF-GRID BASICS This eco-cabin is completely OFF-GRID. (Don’t let this scare you). Our cabin is modernized and solar powered with electricity and heat. Feel good knowing that you’re choosing a low-carbon, eco-friendly getaway. As an off-grid cabin, energy conservation is key. Drawing too much energy may cause you to lose power, so you’ll need to be mindful of your consumption during your stay. There is a back-up generator when solar power is low.
LEAVE NO TRACE All garbage and recycling must be packed up and taken home on your departure.
