Welcome to the hills and our little studio cottage in your own secret garden. Its quite private with a lovely patio next to a small koi pond. Hiking trails are right out the door, and if you cycle we located on a hot ride on Strava. We are 10 min from I280 and are directly between San Francisco and San Jose, 35 miles in each direction; 20 min from Stanford University. The coast is 40 minutes away and we can tell you all the good spots.
The cottage is all yours. Our house is very close but utterly invisible once you pass our office and kitchen and there is plenty of privacy. There is a full kitchen with cooking gear and spices. The double bed is very comfortable with 100% cotton sheets, flannel or percale; linen is available too just lmk if linen is your preference.
We have pets: a dog, a house cat and a stray that we care for, and hens (no rooster). If you don't like dogs, we can keep her away np. The fat cat, however, will most likely come see you. Yes, the chickens can be kinda loud occasionally. The garden is very much a natural habitat and here that means banana slugs. We have a fondness for them so please be careful to not step on them. ;)
The little pond is just outside your door and thats the only reason we don't allow kids as a blanket statement. It is a lovely spot to be in with a newborn so please feel free to ask and we can chat about your situation. Same with pets. They need to be the kind that don't love a good jump in water, don't like digging in the garden, or apt to terrorize the hens.
Our road is quite winding, and busy on the weekend with cyclists. As long as you stay to the right, go slowly, and dont pass the cyclists without a clear view of the road you will be fine. Theres room for a small RV if thats how you travel.
There are great restaurants 10 min above and below us. Alices will take care of all your breakfast cravings and they serve a mean bloody mary. There is often live music on the weekends and is a great place if you like cars and motorcycles since it a big show off spot. Also up there is Mountain House, with an interesting and ever changing menu provided by two of the best chefs in Silicon Valley. Below us is Parkside Grill which has warm and cosy Californian fare. There are others, a surprising number, and the cottage has a binder with our favorites and recommendations.
Please get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks, and happy planning,
Rebecca
