Beautiful Home
This home is well furnished, laid out perfectly for large or small groups and has beautiful landscaping. The kitchens are well stocked and the private lake is so quiet and relaxing. We look forward to coming back!
Amazing property. Extremely well appointed and has virtually everything you need. Kitchen very well equipped. Beautiful yard and lakefront. We had a wonderful time.
The house was perfect for our family get away! It was stocked with everything you could need and more! We all enjoyed the lake toys, boat, arcade games, camp fires, and hot tub. We caught so many fish!! Wish we could have stayed longer. Because the house is managed by a third party, they were not familiar with the inventory questions. I had asked about life jackets and was told there were none on the property. There were definitely life jackets - a whole of them! Just know everything you need for a lake house get away is there! The owners have thought of everything! Highly recommend!

Majestic Northwoods Lake House
There isn’t anything to dislike at Bear Pause Retreat! The house, lake and property in general is great for a summer escape or winter retreat. We loved how spacious the house was and fit our large family perfectly. The kitchen and kitchenette are perfect for cooking for a large group. And the basement area was great for movie night, playing pool or just hanging around the bar and enjoying one another’s company. Plus the new landscaping in the back of the house perfectly ties the house and lake together. We can’t wait to return to Bear Pause Retreat!!

Ideal Family Memory-Making Vacation Home
We had a wonderful time staying at the Bear Pause Retreat! It is a peaceful forest property with a great trail to Trek through on snow shoes or with a snowmobile. We were able to enjoy the lake without anyone else around, the privacy is wonderful! The cabin itself is furnished in a modern, comfortable, cozy way, so we felt right at home. The Wi-Fi was strong, we had no problem using electronic devices. The water was always hot and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to cook together. Our family had a trip we will never forget and I highly recommend this to all of my friends!
This house is easily the nicest house we’ve rented for our annual up-north family vacation. It was very spacious, clean, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. We had plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were comfortable with good linens. We had good Wifi, with plenty of streaming options for TV and/or phones/tablets. We loved the screen porch and chose to have several meals there including making s’mores around the fire table one evening. The hardscape going from the house to the lake includes a fire pit that is really nice. Fishing was fantastic right off the dock. We caught a lot of bass including several in the 14-18” range. The little beach area was really nice and swimming in the crystal clear water was a lot of fun. The kids enjoyed catching minnows, frogs and a water snake (harmless) as well as lounging on the swim raft.
The only possible negatives for the property are with the "row boat” and the steps to the lake. The very basic Jon boat has a seat at each end and nothing near the middle that would allow it to be rowed. Also, there are 58 steps from the lower level of the house to the lake. So going from the lake to the main level of the house is comparable to climbing 5 flights of stairs. When you do that while carrying fishing gear, lawn chairs and beach toys, it can be a challenge. I should also add that we did not use the hiking paths because the insects were annoying.
We'd love to return but it's already booked up. :(
