About the host
Hosted by Karen Paul
I am a veteran who grew up in the old ways of Alaska. I love anything outdoors, so this home being a short walk from the lake and Randolph Park's tons of amenities is my favorite. I am easy to get along with and protect the things I love. My family is everything to me and the things I regret most os not having enough time to vacation, so I can't wait 'till I retire and can live in our dream house full time. Until then, we share it and all it's history with amazing guests like you. I hope you love it as much as we do!
Why they chose this property
Moberly was named the MagicCity for good reason! It is the perfect T junction train town. This means we are exactly in the perfect splt to go everywhere! The town is not only historic, but it is bustling with life unlike many other historic towns that are run down. This huge estate sits in the first addition to Moberly est. 1900. It sots the perfect distance away so at night when the town quiets you can hear the nastalgic faint train sounds which is our families favorite part! During the day you might catch an amish horse and buggie going down the road, or wave hi to the walking mailman while you are on your front lorch swing waiting on the local farmer to deliver eggs and honey straight to your doorstep. Most things are just a short walk away from lake to kyack, to sprinkler pad, library to rent fishing poles to carch a broadway play, musical, or magic show. Across town is convieniences like Walmart and even a drive in movie therater.
Then there is the house, we don't show outside pics online for security reasons, but when you pull up the instant you see the outside then the inside you will know exactly why this is the dream house we searched many months for! Plus it is dripping with living history. We are happy to gove you a free tour if you request one. We have learned so much since moving there.
What makes this property unique
What doesn't!!! Built in 1900, she has an open historical floor plan not found today, the aura is light and welcoming. In winter when we are there we dress her up and it looks exactly like those Hallmark Holiday Movies! It is an experience i always wanted to do amd now we can! It is like taking a vacation every day... Even to just sit on the living room amd turn the fireplace on feels like a deep breath of calm, peace and home. Her expansive ornate pillars and grand fireplace with formal foyer feel like you are elite royalty. Each room is filled with history and antiques from all different erras, passed down family memories and amazing finds we have curiated into an actual museum. The kitchen is our dream kitchen where we love to cookand can hold really large families. The flowers and gardens. The estate has so much life and was designed to bloom with love everywhere. We had so much fun designing themes for all the rooms that loned up with historical trend and family whimisical elements. The back screened in living room is a perfect place to enjoy evenings and the tries help to give it privacy. What is not to love! So many things in that home have a story, purpose that was needed a century ago and different now and a nastalgia to eras gone by bringing us closer to people we miss. It is magical place in a magical city and one of our most favorite places to be on earth. We try and go back as much as we can.
