About the host
Hosted by Lori Bazur-Persing
I am a retired NP and my husband was in transportation. This rental, originally a duplex built in the 1930s, use to be our home. In 2023 we moved a few blocks away and began hosting at what now is a triplex after converting the basement into a studio apartment—An Urban Oasis, A Tranquil Oasis, and A Hidden Oasis. Welcoming guests from around the tri-state area, the US and abroad has been a joy, with many thoughtful touches inspired by their suggestions.
Why they chose this property
In 2019 we moved from our farm back to my childhood neighborhood. It is known as the '05 due to the zip code 46805. This is the best neighborhood in Fort Wayne, in my humble opinion, with great walkability, many eateries and coffee shops. The neighborhood is full of local shops, many owners living close by. A River Greenway Trail spur is just across the street giving access to over 100 mi of walking and biking trails in Fort Wayne and Allen Co. The home is one of the most iconic in Fort Wayne. I remember it from growing up, and most people raised in Ft Wayne know this home. One of the most common comments we get when people realize what house we own is "I know that house, I've always wondered what it looked like inside." It was built in the 1930 by a local businessman who helped develop the neighborhood. It was built so he and his wife could have the main floor unit and a family member could have the 2nd floor unit. We meticulously restored the home which had been neglected over the years and used as a long-term rental. We hope the job we did would make the original owner proud. One of the best additions we did was to transform the basement into a stellar studio apartment. I remember it from growing up, and most people raised in Ft Wayne know this home.
What makes this property unique
The unit is spotless and looks just like the photos...no surprises when you walk in :) It has solid 5-star reviews on our other platform. Our guests comment on how the unit is larger than they thought it would be and that it has thoughtful amenities and extras. As noted before, the neighborhood is very walkable and there are numerous restaurants just up the street and 2 very well-known coffee shops. Scattered between these eateries are multiple local shops. Being centrally located we are also close to almost all Ft Wayne attractions.
