Because we are in a natural wooded environment, insects are also part of the ecosystem. We perform regular pest control and inspections, but despite our best efforts, you may occasionally see an insect or two indoors — they can be persistent little “buggers” in the forest!

About the host
Hosted by Robin Ramon
I was born and raised on the Olympic Peninsula with 6 generations of family rooted here. Many local roads are named after relatives. My great grandfather emigrated from Hoyland, Norway to the area in 1891 inspiring the name “Hoyland” Forest Cabin. I enjoy harvesting edible plants in our area and beachcombing for unique treasures is a favorite pastime. We love helping guests plan adventures and sharing our favorite hikes, beaches, and hidden spots around the Peninsula. The Olympic Peninsula is truly a special place.
Why they chose this property
Willie and Robin bought the property in 1999. It was just undeveloped, forested land, but perfect for the mountain home they wanted. They had a vision for the property and wanted to save as many trees as possible. Trees along the borders of the property, as well as a middle forest, were kept in place. Felled trees were pulled to where the present main house is located. Most of the timber was sold, but some of the logs were used for siding the house and constructing the posts for the porch.
What makes this property unique
Hoyland Forest Cabin offers a quiet, wooded setting that feels tucked away in nature, yet it’s still just minutes from Sequim and a great home base for exploring Olympic National Park and the Olympic Peninsula. Large windows throughout the cabin create a tree house-like feel with views into the surrounding evergreens, where deer and other wildlife frequently wander through the property.
The cabin was thoughtfully designed for a simple, comfortable stay with modern amenities, a covered deck, wood-burning stove, fire pit, and eco-friendly features. Since we are local Hosts, guests also enjoy personalized recommendations from us for our favorite hikes, beaches, scenic drives, and hidden gems.
