Escape to a private 2-bedroom + sunroom cottage tucked in an acre of Michigan woods — just 1.3 miles from Lake Michigan's sandy beach at Warren Dunes State Park.

Outdoor spaces include a front porch and two decks on the side and back of the house. Listen to the birds and frogs while enjoying your morning coffee on the side deck. In the evenings, enjoy grilling off the back deck and gathering around the fire pit to make s'mores while stargazing.

Inside you’ll find an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, skylights, and abundant windows to enjoy the surrounding views from indoors. The cottage is lovingly decorated with art created by local artists and nearby antique store finds. After a day at the beach, enjoy some downtime on the front room sectional couch with TV or cozy up by the gas fireplace in the great room.

While there are many wonderful local restaurant options, the well-stocked kitchen will make you feel right at home if you prefer to cook.

There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. Additionally, the 3-season den/sunroom offers a separate space to relax and enjoy the views, or can be used as a dedicated workspace or a third bedroom, as the couch folds down completely to sleep 2 adults. The bathroom has both a shower and tub. A Pack 'n Play is available. Full-size washer and dryer are in the home for you to use.

We're two sisters who grew up loving Lake Michigan — the beach, the dunes, the woods. When we found this cottage tucked into an acre of trees just over a mile from Warren Dunes, we knew it was ours. We hike, kayak, paddleboard, and spend way too much time watching deer and wild turkeys wander through the yard. We bought it as our own getaway and we love sharing that experience with guests who want the same thing, a true escape!

Why they chose this property

Sawyer sits at the heart of Harbor Country, and this particular acre of woods is our favorite part of it. We discovered forest bathing here before we even had a word for it — there's something about the trees, the birdsong, and the quiet that slows everything down. Warren Dunes is a short drive for beach days and hiking. The fall color along the bluffs and through the vineyards is spectacular. And when the evenings cool off, there's nothing better than a puzzle by the fireplace with the woods outside the window.

What makes this property unique


We didn't decorate this cottage from a box store catalog. Almost every piece on the walls was created by a local Michigan artist, and many of the accents came from antique shops and finds we loved enough to bring home. The kitchen is stocked to make you feel at home cooking. And, the property offers something for everyone: the woods and wildlife for the nature lovers, Warren Dunes for beach and hiking days, kayaking and paddleboarding nearby, antiquing along Red Arrow Highway, and some of the best wineries, breweries, and restaurants in the Midwest just down the road. We think it's pretty special!
