Hinton/Jasper Adventure Base - 3 bdrm pet friendly home
Just 20 minutes from Jasper National Park and an hour from Japer townsite, this 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom family-friendly home is your ideal home base for mountain exploration. Designed for adventurous families, the property features a fully fenced back yard with firepit, a covered deck, and a BBQ — perfect for post-hike meals and relaxing.
Its professionally designed outdoor Jasper themed interior design and open concept living, dining and kitchen area means your time at the property adds to your holiday experience.
You have access to the entire property, fully fenced backyard and free vehicle parking on the paved driveway or on the street. We reserve one hall closet, 2 cupboards in the laundry area and the shed. These are locked and are where we store our supplies.
The 3 things guests like about the design: - Fully stocked kitchen with coffee, tea, an assortment of spices, Henckel chef knives, non-stick cookware and a multitude of accessories. Drinkware includes wine glasses and iced-coffee friendly tumblers (the Keurig has an iced-coffee setting). The refrigerator has a filtered water as well as crushed and cubed ice settings. - The layout. Two bedrooms at one end, an open-concept living room & kitchen in the middle and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. This allows two groups to socialize while providing distance between them while sleeping. - The covered deck/patio and the yard. While there is really no view from either of these places, guests love relaxing and socializing here.
The property is close-ish to the train tracks. There is a big hill in between, but you will hear train horns. It doesn't bother most people and some find the sound enjoyable, but if you are a very light sleeper you may want to choose another property. We do provide some disposable earplugs just in case. Many guests have commented the property is in a very quiet neighborhood so I don't want to blow this out of proportion - just something to be aware of.
While our listing says `pet friendly` we only allow dogs. Sorry, we love cats and yours may be great, but if we get that one bad one it`s really difficult and expensive to fix. :-(

About the host
Hosted by Ferenc Scobie
I’m retired from the Government of Alberta after a career in wildfire, timber, and land management, including many years in a role most people would know as a forest ranger. I grew up in the Hinton area and have a deep love for the outdoors, including travelling, fishing, hiking, backpacking, SCUBA diving, and the occasional marathon.
I also try to operate this property in a way that reflects my values. While it is a business, I believe the people who help create a great guest experience should be treated well, so I pay above-average rates and share a portion of profits with my regular staff and contractors.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighbourhood because it offers a quiet, relaxed setting while still being close to local amenities. The property is near Mary Reimer Park, which is a popular spot for baseball, softball, and soccer tournaments. While you may occasionally hear a distant train horn, the tracks are separated from the property by a hill, and the area is generally very peaceful.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property unique is that it was designed with the guest experience in mind from the very beginning. Unlike many vacation rental owners, rather than making every decision based only on return on investment, my focus was on creating a place guests would truly enjoy.
One of the first things I did was hire a talented designer and explain that many guests stay here as part of a Jasper-area trip. I wanted the home to complement that experience and feel like a welcoming, memorable part of their getaway. Based on my own observations and the comments we’ve received from guests, I think she absolutely nailed it.
