Idyllic, secluded location away from the Ringstrasse: views of nature, close to Lake Gislholts. HG-00021256
Sel (for up to 4 people) is small and cosy, featuring an open-concept living-dining area and kitchenette—with unobstructed views of the countryside. On the ground floor is a small double bedroom with two single beds (each 80x200 cm). The sleeping loft, featuring two very comfortable mattresses, is accessible only via a stepladder. The kitchenette is equipped with two electric hot plates, a microwave, toaster, electric kettle, and refrigerator. The bathroom includes a toilet and shower.
Ideally located as a starting point for day trips to all attractions in southern Iceland; an information folder is waiting for you in the house. We’re also happy to offer advice and assistance on-site! And in winter, with a little luck, you can watch the Northern Lights right from the window of the upper sleeping loft!
Suggested destinations include: Geysir, Gullfoss, Thingvellir, Skógar Waterfall & Museum, Vik (black sand beach), and Dyrholaey (bird cliffs). Or take the ferry to the Westman Islands! Blue Lagoon and coastal road; Reykjavik is 80 km away. In summer: take the Highland Bus or a taxi to Landmannalaugar in the highlands to visit the hot springs.
Swimming pools and shops in Selfoss and Hella; Fontana Spa and Secret Lagoon are easily accessible.
An excellent horseback riding stable is 7 km from the house: riding for beginners and day trips for advanced riders; in summer: www.herridarholl.is
Birdwatching: From May through the end of July, you can observe over 20 species of migratory birds nesting. The loon nests and calls on the nearby lake. The final stretch to Sel passes by sheep and horse pastures.
