The Common Arcana is a newly-renovated, dark-academia inspired 5-bedroom home located just steps from the Salem Common (3min walk) and downtown! Immerse yourself in the color-drenched, mystical vibe of the spacious two-floor unit featuring several uniquely decorated bedrooms. Enjoy free parking with easy access to downtown and the MBTA, plus high-speed WiFi, AC, and Smart TVs. Walkable to all sites that make Salem an iconic tourist destination, & a 1min walk to the ocean at Collins Cove beach!

We are a centrally-located, 5-bedroom unit, just a 3 minute walk to the Salem Common. If you’re looking for a distinctly Salem atmosphere, this is the place for you. Originally built in 1869, recent renovations blend historical character with modern style. Our grand entranceway features a stunning spiral staircase that will lead you to your unit. Enter to find yourself immersed in our rich color palette and thoughtfully curated decor. Five bedrooms make our home a perfect spot for groups or families.

The kitchen was completely redone this year and features new quartz countertops and bar seating that connects to the living room, creating a nicely blended space for cooking and socializing. There are two living areas on each floor with wall-mounted smart Roku TVs, perfect for a movie night or streaming your favorite shows. Both full bathrooms are also brand new. The downstairs bathroom has an impressive tile walk-in shower and bench, and it also features a stackable washer and dryer for your convenience. The upstairs bathroom has a bathtub, convenient for those with little ones.

The 9 foot ceilings throughout the downstairs make for a spacious retreat, but as you venture upstairs you will be reminded that the house was built in the 19th century. The staircase to the third floor is narrow, and there are some slanted ceilings upstairs, all part of our historic charm.

Choose from one of our five bedrooms to suit your mood, each containing queen beds and a unique vibe. Looking for something mystical? Stay in our tarot card bedroom and seek your destiny in the cards on the ceiling. Gaze at the stars as you fall asleep in our constellation bedroom featuring a bunk bed with a full, extra-long bed on the top and a queen bed on the bottom. Upstairs you’ll pass through the study on your way to the three additional bedrooms. Get a taste of all the sites you’ll visit in our Salem bedroom adorned with the city’s famous locations. Pin your own postcard to add to our collection! The final two bedrooms are two sides of the same witchy coin: become one with Mother Earth in the nature bedroom with plant decor, or luxuriate in the gothic glam of our serpent bedroom, each of which have wardrobes for you to hang your belongings.

We have free high-speed WiFi, and there are books, games, and puzzles in the study for your entertainment. Baby items such as a pack ‘n play and high chair are available as well.

There is a balcony adjacent to the kitchen where we have space for outdoor dining and relaxing in the fresh air. Our seasonal (April-Nov) hot tub is located in the backyard and can be used 8am-10pm.

We have free, on-site parking for up to 2 cars! All others months of the year (except for October), also include free street parking. However, if you want to park on the street in October, please let us know and we can get you one visitor pass for the street.

This is a two-family home with entirely separate and distinct living units. However, as with all licensed short-term rentals in Salem, the house is owner-occupied, which means the first floor unit is where we live! We keep to ourselves and prefer all communication go through the VRBO app, so that way we can maintain our privacy and you can maintain yours. We kindly ask guests to respect quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

For comfort in all seasons, the space is equipped with air conditioning for warmer weather and heat in the cooler months.

The Collins Cove Rail trail is a 2 minute walk, with a Blue Bikes station just a 4 minute walk away on Webb Street, close to the intersection of Bridge Street and Webb Street.
