About the host
Your host
I live in Brookfield, but my heart has always been up north. My dad's side of the family is from Northwoods Beach, and I've been making the trip up here for more than 40 years. When the chance to buy this property came along last December, I jumped on it — I'd always dreamed of having a home in the Hayward area to retire to someday. I spent months renovating it, and now I'd love for guests to enjoy the space and make their own memories here while I'm still working toward that retirement.
Why they chose this property
When I'm up here, you'll usually find me hiking, biking, kayaking, browsing the farmers markets, getting involved in the local community, or just hanging out with my dogs. I love this area so much that hosting feels like a gift — I get to share a place I adore, pass along my favorite local suggestions, and point people toward the events that make a trip here special. Our road is wonderfully friendly, too: it sits right on an active walking trail where you can stroll around much of Lac Courte Oreilles (LCO) Lake.
What makes this property unique
It's a true log cabin with character to match: a staircase that no longer leads anywhere (a leftover from past renovations), a gentle slant in the floor, and visible traces of where the original house ended and the addition began. Those little quirks are exactly what set it apart from the multimillion-dollar homes lining the lakeshore — and we feel so lucky to call it ours.
