About the host
Hosted by Karen Carter
Welcome to a place that has been loved for four generations. This cabin is much more than a vacation home; it’s a part of our family’s story. In the 1970’s, my uncle built this cabin by hand with a vision of creating a simple place where family could gather and enjoy the beauty of the Suwannee River. What began as a labor of love soon became the backdrop for countless summers filled with laughter, adventure, and unforgettable memories. As a child, I spent many days here with my family. Our days were filled with fishing, tubing, boat rides to the Gulf, swimming, sharing meals and watching the reflection of the sunsets on the river. There was always plenty of food, my uncle’s grill from the 70’s is still on the property where he would grill his famous BBQ Ribs, always plenty of laughter time spent together that only grows more precious with age. As the years passed, one generation gave way to the next. I returned with my own children, and now my grandchildren are making memories here too. They fish from the dock, explore the river, share family meals and enjoy the same peaceful beauty that captured my heart long ago. Though much has changed over the decades, the Suwannee River still has a way of slowing life down. It invites us to set aside busy schedules, enjoy God’s creation, and treasure the people we are with.
What makes this property unique
We hope your stay brings you the same peace, joy, and connection our family has found here. May the cabin become a place where you make memories of your own, whether you’re catching the fish of a lifetime sharing stories under the pavilion, or simply enjoying the quiet rhythm of the river. Thank you for becoming a small part of our family’s story. We hope you leave with wonderful memories and that the Suwannee River calls you back again. Welcome again to our home away from home. We hope it feels like yours, too.
