Explore the medieval town of Mogliano, beautifully situated on a hill between the Cremone and Ete Morto valleys in the southern part of the region. Also visit wineries and taste the delicious drops! The medieval and baroque city, Macerata, sits charmingly on a hill in the center of the region and, behind its ancient 14th century walls, hosts the Sferisterio Opera Festival, one of the most famous opera festivals in the world. The pretty medieval village, Montecassiano, surrounded by high well-preserved walls, is also worth a visit. Every year in July, the village is immersed in the Middle Ages with the Palio dei Terzieri: For ten days the ancient costumes, dances, flavors and recipes of the era, games and performances, including the final jousting tournament, return!
