The pool was relaxing and the rooms were exactly as pictured. Interior decoration was planned nicely, but the quality of the house left little to be complimented. Initial reaction to the house was abysmal. There were mud stains on the toilet seat, food remnants and utensils leftover in the kitchen sink, debris and dirt in the shower, and bugs crawling throughout the entire home. From ants in the bathroom to cockroaches running rampant in the entire house. It got to a point where we had to go to the grocery store and buy our own ant and roach spray to fend off the bugs. The house was also lacking paper towels, only having a quarter of a roll left when we arrived. The host ensured there would be paper towels in the drawers and cabinets, but we had to go to the store to get more since no paper towels were ever found. All of those problems were minor compared to the biggest problem: the lack of AC. When we arrived, we turned the AC to 70 F to cool down the house since it was 75 when we got there. We left for a couple hours, got back to the house, and it had went up to 78 F. When contacting the host, the excuse for the lack of AC was that there was a “massive heatwave” and that “the AC units are working hard” to compensate the heat. It was unacceptable that during the hottest hours of the day that the AC was not running at all. Between 12 pm through 8 pm (basically daytime), the AC was not doing its job, and it was excruciatingly painful to be inside the home.
