The historic building at “Dorfstraße 33,” located in the town centre, was likely originally used as a “pastor’s widow’s home” and was built in the early 19th century. However, due to the turmoil of the world wars and the post-reunification period, very few records regarding the building’s history remain. We acquired the building in 2015 and lovingly restored and modernised it completely by 2023. All work was carried out by our team of five and by local master craftsmen.
Today, the house offers contemporary comforts. The focus of the restoration was on preserving the original fieldstone foundation and providing a modern interpretation of the classic facade design. Large sections of the roof truss—which is still partially exposed—were also preserved in their original condition.
The historic goat barn in the building’s courtyard was rebuilt over the course of more than two years by refurbishing historic architectural elements and thoroughly renovating the entire masonry structure. Today, part of it is used as a bicycle storage area for our guests.
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is arguably Germany’s most scenic state, boasting a coastline of 1,945 km. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, you’ll find everything you need for a dream holiday. Its proximity to the island of Usedom guarantees top-notch cuisine and beautiful beaches. But even here on the “mainland side,” you’ll find features that are rather rare these days: for example, a 144-hectare moorland where beavers, wild geese, herons, and many rare bird species make their home. Large and small game—badgers, raccoon dogs, and raccoons—can also be spotted here. The unique moorland landscape is perfect for hiking, biking, and picnicking. On “our” mainland side, just about a 15-minute drive away, is the renowned Relais & Châteaux Gutshaus Stolpe, whose cuisine has just been awarded a MICHELIN star; the estate also includes the old Fährkrug, located directly on the banks of the Peene River, where you can dine and relax in a casual atmosphere.
The bicycle ferry to the island of Usedom is accessible via a direct route from Bargischow. In just 15 minutes (by bike), you can reach the “Kamp” harbour, where you can relax with fish sandwiches (from a local smokehouse) as well as soft drinks, beer, sparkling wine, or coffee and cake. The ferry ride to the island of Usedom takes only a few minutes. The ferry route runs right past the historic “Karniner Bridge” and ends directly in the village of Karnin.
Among the most popular leisure activities in the region are a visit to the bison reserve on the island of Usedom and exploring the charming Peene landscape by pedal boat, rowing boat, or kayak. The Hanseatic city of Anklam, with its famous Otto Lilienthal Museum, the historic city wall housing the Anklam City Museum, and various recreational facilities (indoor swimming pool, city park with animal enclosure, diverse dining options, weekly market), is only 4 km away.
There you’ll also find all your shopping needs: Lidl, Aldi, Penny, Norma, a drink store, Famila, Deichmann, the post office, DM chemist, an optician, a bookshop, and several clothing stores.
