Our child-friendly “Schwanenhof” is located right on the dike in Ostbense, about equidistant from Bensersiel, Esens, and Neuharlingersiel. The “Schwanenhof” is a Gulfhof—a typical East Frisian marsh farm that is no longer in operation.
It’s just a 2-minute walk to the dike, so you’ll never be too late to enjoy the magnificent sunset over the sea! On the dike, you’ll experience the North Sea at its most beautiful, basking in the sun and sea alongside just a few other lucky visitors.

The meadows right next to us and a small lake nearby are home to many swans. Watching the swans is almost as much fun as visiting the fish in the pond in our garden.
Here with us, you’ll find the peace and quiet you deserve. It’s about a 5-minute drive to the beach and all the spa facilities in the North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel, and the drive to the North Sea spa town of Bensersiel is just as short.



A holiday in Ostbense means “the North Sea without the tourist crowds,” featuring wonderful walks along the dike. At the same time, the tourist centers, beaches, and swimming pools are within easy reach.
The North Sea spa town of Neuharlingersiel is a 300-year-old fishing village with an active fleet of crab boats. In the beautiful historic fishing harbour, East Frisian fishing is still actively practised today by many crab boats.
There’s a wide range of tourist attractions for your holiday: the beach with the fantastic “Platschi” water play area, the new, modern “BadeWerk” spa and wellness centre with a seawater indoor pool and sauna facilities, as well as the Kurhaus, Kursaal, an information centre with the “Leuchttürmchen” children’s playhouse, the Sielhof as the “Haus des Gastes,” green spaces, events, a lovingly maintained historic harbour, and much more.
Neuharlingersiel is located right in the middle of the East Frisian North Sea coast, on the mainland directly across from the island of Spiekeroog and slightly east of Ostbense.
To the west, in the immediate vicinity, lies Bensersiel. Bensersiel also has plenty to offer in terms of sports, recreation, and fun—for example, two swimming pools: the seawater wave pool with a super slide and the “Sonneninsel” North Sea thermal bath complex. The “Sonneninsel” is a modern, heated water park and leisure facility featuring North Sea water. The “Sonneninsel” North Sea Thermal Baths also house numerous spa facilities as well as a modern wellness, sauna, and fitness centre.
There are also many options for your health: health-promoting classes, fitness and exercise classes at the Vital-Aktiv-Center; or treat yourself to a beauty day and let yourself be thoroughly pampered.
Bensersiel is located right in the middle of the East Frisian North Sea coast, across from the island of Langeoog on the mainland.
Esens, the “parlour” of the Harlingerland region, is also nearby. You can reach Esens by car, but it’s even better to take the “back route” through the marshlands.
The wonderful attractions of Neuharlingersiel and Bensersiel are complemented in Esens by this over 475-year-old “knight’s town” with its historically grown town centre. Here you’ll find a wealth of events—both large and small—as well as museums, restaurants, and shopping opportunities.
In general, our region is ideal for long walks, bike rides, and explorations of East Frisia’s unique natural landscape. This way, you can enjoy an active yet relaxing holiday on the North Sea and make the most of the North Sea’s invigorating climate.
