Le Figuier: In the heart of black Périgord, old farmhouse with panoramic view

This stone house, a restored former farmhouse, very cool in summer, can accommodate up to 6 people. It is located on a hillside in a quiet and green hamlet, 3 km from St Geniès, a typical village with slate roofs.
The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, 1 shower room, and 3 toilets.
Facing due east with a magnificent panoramic view of the valley, you can enjoy the terrace for dining or relaxing.
You can enjoy a private garden (200 m²) shaded and with a climbing frame for children.
The fenced and secure swimming pool (7m x 3.5m) is shared with another 4-person gîte on the property. It is unheated and open from June to September.
The property is located midway between the Vézère valleys, near the prehistoric sites of Lascaux IV (10 km) and Les Eyzies (International Center for Prehistory) (10 km), and the Dordogne valley with its castles and remarkable sites.
Sarlat (13 km), a superb medieval town, is renowned for its summer activities and gastronomy.
If you enjoy walking and nature, numerous marked trails will take you through the forests and countryside of our beautiful region around the house.
You will meet local producers to enjoy regional products.
Part of the gîte is accessible to people with reduced mobility (living room, kitchen, master bedroom, terrace).
Pets are not allowed.

Cute house with plenty of character and stunning views

Cute house with plenty of character and stunning views. Lots to see and do near by. Florence and her lovely mother were the perfect hosts, attentive but not interfering. We didn’t realise at the time of booking that the pool was shared with another Gite, however this wasn’t a problem.

Wonderful stay in Périgord Noir

A really lovely house which the photos don’t really do full justice to. The outside space and terrace were lovely and private. The pool area is tranquil with lovely views. Only a short drive to the nearest village which has everything you need. Perfect location for visiting castles, restaurants, beautiful villages. A week wasn’t long enough. We’d love to return. Thank you, Florence.

Quiet quirky property

Spent 2 lovely weeks in this property . The location was perfect for visits to the river at Vitrac, the lake at Tamniès , Monkey forest, and Sarlat. The balcony was brilliant and the swing and pool were well used by the grandchildren. The shower was good but the big bathroom did get a bit smelly in the very hot weather. The chickens were cute! Thank you for a lovely holiday

Excellent house, great local amenities

Florence was an excellent owner, great communication and was always keen to help any issues. She was very respectful and kind with lovely welcome gifts of fruit and wine and was always happy to talk to my children. Pool was excellent, clean and well maintained and provided hours of entertainment for my boys (and husband!). House was clean throughout and really functional for a growing family. The views were stunning and I'll miss my coffee on the terrace in the mornings. Would definitely visit again!

What a beautiful place

Terrace view was fantastic, pool was a real treat for us all. Very close to lots of scenic features and places to visit - we had several lovely meals in Sarlat, we canoed down the Dordogne, we visited Castlenaud and Domme - all within an easy drive from the property. Don’t mind paying for towels and bedding but probably better to be a refund if not required rather than an extra. It was like stepping back 40 years in the UK, hearing the cuckoo again, seeking woodpeckers, wild orchids, lizards, swallows etc etc. Suited us down to the ground.

Rustic and quiet holiday home in the Perigord Noir with a view

We had a lovely 2 week holiday at the house in St. Dramont. The house lays nearly at the top of the hill, with a view of the valley and beyond. St. Genies (very small village) is a short drive away, as are Montignac (Lascaux), Sarlat and numerous other touristy places within 30-45min drive. The house is spacious, both the living room/kitchen as well as the 3 bedrooms. The ground floor stays nice and cool thanks to the thick walls, the first floor however did get (very) warm on sunny days. The kitchen was equipped with all the basic necessities (2 coffee machines), but lacked regular and kitchen knives; a coal BBQ (Weber) is also provided in the garage below. A thing to note is that the water is very rich in chalk, everything from the dishwasher was covered with a thin layer of chalk. Overlooking the valley are the terrace (partly covered with a retractable shade) and garden (with hammock), where we spent a lot of hours during the day and evening. The swimming pool located to the side of the house was a nice (but cold) luxury, and has some deck chairs. It is shared with the adjacent holiday home (same owner). The hostess, Florence, was wonderful and very welcoming (she even spoke English, which helped us a lot). Upon arrival she gave us a tour of the house and ground, and immediately arranges a toy kitchen for our daughter to play with. Communication before and during our stay was excellent, and she was quick to respond to our questions.

À la découverte du Périgord

Nous avons été enchantés par notre séjour chez Florence. Ce fut notre aire de repos ainsi que l’endroit où nous avons préparé de délicieux repas avec les produits locaux. Le logement de Florence avait toutes les caractéristiques que nous recherchions. Le beau temps au rendez-vous nous nous sommes promenés en voiture et à pied à la découverte de sites à visiter.

Merveilleux séjour en Périgord

Quel plaisir d´être aussi bien reçus par Florence, notre hôte, dans un gîte confortable et super bien entretenu. La région est magnifique et grâce aux bons conseils de Florence nous avons visité beaucoup de sites inoubliables. A Lovely place to stay

We have just had (September) a most enjoyable week in Florence’s gîte in the Dordogne. The gîte is part of an old family farmhouse, with lots of charm, in a peaceful and beautiful part of the Dordogne, 3 kms from the nearest village (St Geniès) and within 30 minutes of lots of interesting places to see and explore. We are a retired couple and went with another couple (old and good friends). We had a great week – all too short. – enjoying very much our meals, drinks and chats on the terrace, with its stunning views amid the quiet of the countryside around us; walks – near and beyond; and, the swims in the pool - beautifully clean and well looked after. Florence was an excellent host: helpful, friendly and hospitable, and who made us feel very much “at home”. Thank you, Florence! – we very much enjoyed meeting you, and thank you for a lovely holiday. Alan & Mary

Vue nature

Jolie maison avec une vue apaisante dans un hameau très calme. La piscine est idéale pour se rafraîchir après une journée de visite riche dans la région. Gite très propre, bien équipé et bien entretenu. Gite à la campagne mais idéalement placé pour visiter les différents lieux touristiques du Périgord noir. Florence les propriétaires sont très discrets et surtout de très bon conseil pour les différents visites, les restaurants,... nous avons passé un très bon séjour.

Erholung pur im Perigord

Wir haben eine tolle Zeit bei Florence im wunderschönen Perigord verbringen dürfen. Florence und ihre Familie sind wunderbare Gastgeber. Sie wohnen ebenfalls auf dem weitläufigen Grundstück, waren niemals aufdringlich, aber bei Fragen und Problemen stets zur Stelle. Auf ihre zahlreichen Ausflugs- und Restaurantempfehlungen kann man sich absolut verlassen. Das Haus ist voller Charme, der Garten sowie die Terrasse wunderschön, hier haben wir viele Stunden verbracht. Zum nächsten Ort sind es keine zehn Minuten mit dem Auto, dort findet alles für den täglichen Bedarf. Ausflugsziele wie Sarlat, das Vézère-Tal oder die Dordogne sind mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen. Wer einen Urlaub in einer ruhigen, ländlichen Umgebung, jedoch mit einer guten Anbindung zu zahlreichen Ausflugszielen sucht, ist hier genau richtig!

Merci à Florence pour son accueil très sympathique et sa gentillesse, nous avons particulièrement apprécié le long mail préalable à notre arrivée nous donnant tous les renseignements utiles sur notre séjour, notamment sur le plan touristique. La maison est idéale pour les amoureux du calme et de la nature, elle offre la possibilité de prendre les repas sur la terrasse face à un verdoyant paysage. C'est le point de départ de nombreuses visites, châteaux, grottes, possibilité de balades le long de la Vézère et de la Dordogne. sans oublier Sarlat qui est proche. A conseiller vivement.

Un havre de repos

Le gîte est très agréable, dispose d’un vrai jardin et d’une piscine très agréable. Sis dans un petit hameau très calme, c’est un endroit à découvrir absolument. Le gîte est très propre et confortable.

Idéal pour découvrir le Périgord

Florence est une propriétaire très accueillante et disponible. Ses conseils de visites dans la région nous a permis de découvrir des choses nouvelles comme les « jardins d’eau ». Le gîte est spacieux, fonctionnel et la piscine intéressante après une longue balade. A recommander pour tous ceux qui cherchent un endroit calme mais à quelques kilomètres de nombreux lieux à visiter …

Bol d'air en campagne

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour. La chambre avec sa propre salle de bain est parfaite pour partir avec des amis. A l'étage, la chambre enfants et parentale permet d'isoler la famille. La maison est agencée intelligemment et possède tout le confort pour faire ses petits plats. La terrasse est parfaite pour prendre l'apéritif, déjeuner et surveiller les enfants dans le jardin. Bijoux mitten in der Natur

Florence und ihre Familie sind die perfekten Gastgeber. Das allernötigste steht bei Anreise bereit. Wir haben viele ausgezeichnete Tipps zu Ausflügen und Restaurants in der Umgebung erhalten. Die erhöhte Terrasse vor dem Haus bietet am Morgen einen sensationellen Blick zum Sonnenaufgang und speichert die Wärme auch spätabends. Die Lage des Hauses ist ideal für Auslüge ins Vezère-Tal aber auch Richtung Sarlat und Dordogne. Jederzeit gerne wieder.
