Spend the night in a monument in the middle of Halberstadt's old town
Located in the heart of Halberstadt’s Old Town, the “former paint factory” sits below Domplatz. By March 2025, this historic, protected building—which features 4 vacation apartments—had been lovingly renovated and furnished with antiques. Great care was taken to preserve all historical details and use sustainable materials. The guesthouse is an absolute gem. You can park your car in the nearby parking lot—everything else can be explored on foot or by tram! Your apartment is located on the first floor of the building, right in the heart of the old town. In front of the building is a small square with old linden trees, so you’ll wake up to a view of nature every morning. You enter the apartment directly through the kitchen-living room, which features a kitchenette and a dining table for four people. The two bedrooms are right next to it; the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom faces the street. The children’s room is quite unique because it still contains the old safe—it simply couldn’t be removed. As a result, the room is small but quiet and cozy, with a 140x200 cm bed. It faces the inner courtyard, which is still in need of quite a bit of renovation and gives a good impression of what everything looked like less than a year ago. The small bathroom is very cozy and equipped with a walk-in shower, sink, and toilet. The kitchen should have everything you need for your stay, especially an electric stove, coffee maker, electric kettle, refrigerator with freezer, and dishwasher. We deliberately chose not to include a TV, because there’s so much to discover in Halberstadt. Instead, we have a fiber-optic connection for reliable Wi-Fi. When selecting materials, we focused on quality and sustainability: radiant floor heating, clay plaster, linseed oil paints, and hand-mixed wall paints not only ensure a comfortable living environment but also add authenticity, just like our antiques and flea market finds. Everything’s a little wonky and worn, but genuine! The floor is still covered with oiled OBS panels—we’ll definitely be installing oak parquet someday. We hope you like it just as much as we do. Sights, restaurants, and shopping are all within easy walking distance, and the tram stop to the train station is just a few hundred meters away at the Johannisbrunnen.
