The Neighborhood:
Ferienhaus Hyggeby is located in the municipality of Ulsnis in the small Schlei village of Gunneby, which has one of the most beautiful bathing spots in the area. The leisure options are varied - not only for active holidaymakers. Day trips to all the beautiful places on the Schlei and great beaches on the Baltic Sea can be started from the house - even by bike.
For those interested in culture and art there is much to see – even a
UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is also a wide variety of creative options. The culinary offerings include not only fish sandwiches, but also fine restaurants with sophisticated regional cuisine.
The Schlei region is Germany's northernmost nature park. Due to its large
Biodiversity of the animal and plant world this region is a true
Natural paradise.
The centrepiece is the Schlei, the 42km long arm of the Baltic Sea. The nature around the Schlei is shaped by an end-moraine landscape. Rolling hills, lush green forests and pastures. On the Schlei there are picturesque villages, stately estates and beautiful sandy beaches.
Three interesting towns line the banks of the Schlei: the port town of Kappeln (15 km from Ferienhaus Hyggeby), Germany's smallest town of Arnis (14 km from Ferienhaus), and the town of Schleswig (20 km from Ferienhausen Hyggeby) at the end of the fjord, home to the once most important Viking settlement, Haitabu. Water sports enthusiasts will find ideal conditions.
Holidaymakers enjoy the numerous bathing spots on the Schlei (one of them right in the village) and the beaches of the Baltic Sea Baths (e.g. Eckernförde or the Baltic Sea Spa Damp, both 20 km from Ferienhaus Hyggeby). Nature lovers appreciate protected areas, such as the Geltingen Birk. The region stands for sustainable holidays.
