Affittacamere Maria Gabriella, B&B and Holiday Home in Val d'Orcia

Ashort way from Porta St. Agata, the main gate to the medieval village of Monticchiello, Guido is glad to welcome you in her three Rooms and two Dependance recently refurbished, that belong to an old farmhouse, dating back to the late ’500, overlooking Valdorcia and placed at the foot of the village, with a view of the ancient towers and of the ramparts.

The BB is very attentive to details and offers all the amenities (wifi, fridge, kitchen, etc. ..) in total relaxation. We will prepare for you delicious and genuine breakfasts.

The house offers a large well-tended garden where the guests can relax and enjoy the wonderful view. A private car park is also available.

From Monticchiello you can easily reach Valdorcia and progress up to Mount Amiata and the Rocca Aldobrandesca in Castiglion d’Orcia. Besides relaxing, in the tranquility of small restaurants of the village you can find the best typical products of the valley (olive-oil, cheeses and wines). In summer you can see the plays of “Teatro Povero”, which are world-famous for being written and performed by Monticchiello habitants.

Pienza, the Renaissance town that pope Pious II wanted to rebuild, is also very close. The thermal baths of Bagno Vignoni are another fascinating visit. The nearby town of Montalcino is paticularly well-known for its wine, the “Brunello”. San Quirico is worth a visit for its Collegiata Church. The woods of Amiata. Montepulciano, “pearl” of Cinquecento is famous for its “Nobile” wine and recently has been chosen as a natural “film set” for the second chapter of Twilight Saga, New Moon. Chiusi, with its National Etruscan Museum offers a different point of view.

What a Wonderful Place!

Perfect!

We absolutely loved this Villa and it's location. The owner was so nice, and very accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful each morning, and the owner even helped us to arrange a chef-prepared dinner! The views were spectacular from the back yard, and the rooms were clean and nice. It was located just a few steps away from a beautiful medieval village that you can walk to for dinner. We would for sure recommend this property!

Fabulous

We stayed at the house with a friend in separate rooms and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were wonderful and they have screens (mosquitos are thick in the summer). The property is beautiful and on the corner right before you reach the town. Breakfast in the morning with fresh pastry was fantastic. Perfect. We dined at Dario several nights and they were wonderful there. We would definitely stay there again.

Highly recommend for anyone, exceeded expectations

What can we say. This is one property that goes beyond what is described. Guido and his Aunt are ideal hosts who would meet any request. Rooms were roomy and comfortable, location is close to restaurants Our visit included wineries, bee festivals and in general what you would expect in Tuscany. The service people were extremely helpful at all times. Would definitely rent again.

Beautiful House and Wonderful Hists

Guido our host was extremely patient in fielding question after question from our group of five after we were a bit dazed after driving all day through hilly roads in torrential rains. He couldn’t have been nicer. Great location in Montechiello with easy access to Piena. The house is beautifully decorated, maintained and nicely updated with modern bathrooms and cold AC. Breakfast prepared by Guido’s Zia Simonetta was a great mixture of home made baked goods and bacon and eggs. The coffee was great. The views from the property of the surrounding countryside make for a wonderful breakfast experience. We were also able to do much needed laundry. I received nothing but compliments from my fellow travelers for booking this house for our two night stay in Pienza/Montechiello.

Beyond perfect!

Guido and his aunt are phenomenal hosts. We woke to cappuccino every morning before a huge spread of breakfast including meats, cheeses, yogurt, beautiful pastries and fresh eggs and bacon. The view is so peaceful and a short walk to fantastic restaurants and an adorable town. The location is also so close to Pienza and Montepulciano and other fun walled cities. We only wished we had stayed longer! This is a place I will definitely come back to stay!

Monticchiello Perfection

We stayed with Guido and his aunt Simonella at their lovely B&B style home. The location was perfect to visit other large towns in the Tuscany region. Their home in Monticchiello was the perfect small town that we needed after traveling for the two prior weeks. There were several great restaurants that we could walk to and enjoyed immensely. Guido was always available to answer our questions and help with reservations in town. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We would recommend staying with Guido!

Fantastic in every repect

We stayed here as 2 couples using the location as a gateway to Val D’Orchia. Guido and his aunt are wonderful hosts The property is ideally located , clean and comfortable……at the base of an amazingly small hilltop town with wonderful restaurants. Delicious breakfast. Would not change a thing and would recommend and also return!

Outstanding Stay in Tuscany

This lovely B&B was ideally situated just steps from the gate of Monticchiello, and central to many of the sites and towns of Tuscany. Guido and his aunt were lovely, and served a delicious and filling breakfast each morning. Make sure to get good directions from Guido. We relied on Google Maps, which took us the shorter, but far "rougher" back road to the B&B.

Absolutely Lovely Stay

We had a wonderful stay at this special villa. It was very peaceful and Guido could not have been more helpful. Between booking dinner & wine tasting as well as recommending a trip to Montepulciano to catch the Barbarossa procession he made our trip. The villa has an interesting history and was very comfortable for our family of 6. We spent quite a bit of time enjoying the stunning view from the patio. It was a nice break after our Rome adventures. Monticciello is a short drive to many of the surrounding villages. Also, Auntie prepared a nice breakfast every morning as well. There is also a cottage on the property that can accommodate more guests. We would highly recommend Villa Gabriella Maria and hope to come back again.

Nous avons apprécié la générosité de nos hotes, l'emplacement judicieux de la propriété et la belle vue. L'annonce en revanche est un peu confusante, car elle indique 230m2 et 12 couchages, ce qui correspond a la capacité totale de la maison, mais pas forcement a ce a quoi vous aurez acces.

Beautiful Tuscany

This farmhouse in the Tuscany is an ideal, secluded and quiet location, with amazing food at the local restaurants. Our host was amazing and extremely helpful in planning our exploration of nearby towns. We would have loved to stay even longer and hope to return some day!

Above Charming Clean & Beautiful

The hospitality should be the standard for all VRBO’s. The attention to detail and comfort was so appreciated. The restaurants suggested by Guido were excellent and 450 ft away from our front door. The Tuscany location was a favorite ancient hill town. Pienza close by for the sunset is dreamy. Thank you, Guido for the guidance. Magical Monticchiello

Very well maintained property with helpful and attentive host available to provide suggestions for outings and sights to see in nearby towns. Villa is within walking distance of small town of Monticchiello. It's a wonderful place for large family or group of friends to gather. Note that a car is necessary to get to nearby sights.

Picture perfect cottage in great location

We loved our short stay here and wished we could stay longer. The location was perfect because it was such a quick walk into Montiechello but with a backyard and views. It was also very close drive to Pienza. Guido and his Aunt were great hosts and very friendly. We would definitely come back.

My mother Maria Gabriella was Tuscan of adoption.
He fell in love with this land forty years ago. It was love at first sight and how can you not fall in love with these wonderful places full of art and surrounded by breathtaking nature (and for the good food).
This beautiful house used as a B&B that I manage with the invaluable help of my aunt Simonetta I was left by my mother that I also inherited good manners care of furnishing and above all welcoming guests to whom she cared a lot.
Our facility has always been open to guests that we take care of the smallest detail.
Do not hesitate to ask us about these places and assistance for food and wine destinations also.

It was love at first sight and how not to fall in love with this wonderful land full of art and for  surrounded by breathtaking nature not to mention the good food.
