Nazaré - A magnificent beach, typical fishermen's houses and sheer cliffs overlooking a brilliant blue sea have made this fishing village a popular holiday destination, mainly because of its traditional character. Fishermen can still be seen wearing checked shirts and black trousers, and their wives wearing seven layers of petticoats: they can be seen mending nets or drying fish on the beach. Near Nazaré is the beautiful beach of São Martinho do Porto: its enclosed, safe bay makes it a favourite holiday destination, especially for families with children.

Monasteries, convents, castles, churches and museums bear witness to a priceless historical and artistic heritage of recognised universal value. As one of the most economically developed regions in the country, the Costa de Prata is also home to famous treasures of traditional art, such as its porcelain and crystal, as well as its gastronomy, strongly influenced by the sea and counterbalanced by its tasty Bairrada wines and mouthwatering
