Bornholt is idyllically nestled between meadows and forests right on the Kiel Canal and offers the perfect conditions for pure relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of stressful everyday life in a natural, typically North German setting. Our “Frieda” is a holiday rental with a truly cosy atmosphere. With the Kiel Canal practically on your doorstep, the “Frieda” offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday in a total of 56 square metres of living space. There are two bedrooms—one with a double bed and one with a single bed—a bright and welcoming living room, a bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a small but well-equipped kitchen. There’s also a southwest-facing balcony from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside (Please note: No direct view of the canal.) Dogs are welcome in all our holiday apartments at no extra charge. There is high-speed fiber-optic Wi-Fi and a lockable bike shed with a power outlet. Our holiday apartments are also the ideal starting point for day trips to the North Sea and the Baltic Sea; to Denmark (about a 2-hour drive); or to major cities such as Hamburg, Kiel, and/or Lübeck. Shopping opportunities are available in Albersdorf and Hademarschen, both easily accessible by car.
The area around Bornholt also offers easy access to a wide variety of attractions. Just a few kilometres away and easily reached by car, the Dithmarschen Stone Age Park in Albersdorf delights families and history buffs alike and invites visitors on an exciting journey through time. Hanerau-Hademarschen, also just a few minutes away by car, is known as the setting for the work of the poet Theodor Storm, who wrote his novella “Der Schimmelreiter” here. The nearest major towns, Heide and Itzehoe, with their charming shopping streets, offer the ideal setting for a leisurely stroll through town and/or extensive shopping trips. Heide is also known for having the largest, undeveloped market square in Germany. A weekly market is held there every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
