About this property

A little bit o' country, yet close to town, with spectacular mountain views!

Designed to bring you relaxation and comfort, this is a sweet, immaculate, one bedroom, with full kitchen and breathtaking 360 degree mountain views. Licensed by State of Montana and inspected and licensed by the Gallatin County Health Department.
AIR CONDITIONED for summer when necessary, and cozy HEAT for winter! Ten minutes south of downtown Bozeman in beautiful Hyalite Meadows, near the mouth of Hyalite Canyon and recreation area…open year round to hiking, biking, fishing, skiing, and in winter, ice climbing. I can provide indoor space for bikes or skis while you stay.
Ideal for the vacationers who are looking for peace and tranquility in a pastoral setting - you don’t have to go far to see horses, cows, sheep and even a nearby alpaca farm!
Make yourselves at home in this luxury apartment with fully equipped kitchen – refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and dishwasher. Pots, pans, and stoneware pottery dishes are here for you to use.
Coffee pot and electric tea kettle with tea and coffee for your enjoyment!
The apartment is equipped with WI-FI, Samsung LED TV, and ROKU with HULU. There is a twin hide-a-bed in the living room available as well. Request sheets upon arrival for hide a bed.
From the large picture window in the bedroom (queen bed) soak in the ever fascinating views of the Spanish Peaks. Big Sky ski area is just 50 miles south.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck (when it's warm outside) with a view toward the Bridger Mountains. Bridger Bowl downhill ski area and Cross Cut cross country Park are just 45 minutes away.
Roads are plowed often in the winter, as well as snow cleared from my driveway. But AWD or 4WD vehicle with good tires is necessary for winter driving in MT! Winter guests must be willing to walk through some snow, brush snow off their vehicle, and possibly shovel a bit of snow at times!
Summertime perennial flower gardens on this 2 acre property for your enjoyment. Paved roads in safe neighborhood yours for a lovely walk! Awe inspiring sunrises and sunsets, dramatic storms, and 'big' watercolor skies will contribute to making your stay at this panoramic viewpoint memorable. I know you’ll want to come back!
Downtown Bozeman, MSU, or 'the mall' are a short scenic drive from here. Bozeman has a plethora of great restaurants in all price ranges. Downtown Bozeman, with many historic old brick buildings is a fun place to wander.
No-smoking/no vaping apartment, and sorry, no pets.*
Please read my reviews...people who have stayed here have been very happy with Indian Paintbrush Inn!

Perfect Retreat

Just the perfect place to stay that had everything we needed. We had been traveling out West from Florida in camper van and it was wonderful to be able to get out for a few days. We were wonderfully welcomed and informed of all the good things in Bozeman. Such a great location of peacefulness but still close enough to town. The highlight is the short travel to Hyalite Canyon which we did two evenings. Love the area and hope to be able to visit again!

In Town But Out Of Town - Just perfect

The detached guest apartment was spacious and perfectly appointed with everything and then some. Carol was so gracious to let us keep our bikes in the garage. Views are fantastic and I am booking now for my next Bozeman trip. Proximity to biking and downtown all just right.

A great spot just outside of Bozeman

This was our 4th stay at Carol's amazing place on Indian Paintbrush. It's a charming apartment, 5 miles outside of Bozeman. It's sparkling clean, with breathtaking views in every direction of the surrounding mountains. Very conveniently located both for access to Bozeman as well as the surrounding countryside, for cycling, hiking, or visiting lovely Hyalite Lake. Perfect space for a couple, although it can sleep 3. Very quiet setting.

Lovely spot just outside of Bozeman

This was our third stay at Carol’s beautiful place, just outside of Bozeman. It is immaculately clean, bright, well-equipped, and perfect for my husband and myself. We had easy access to great cycling right out the door, and close enough to town to be convenient. Carol is a great host, and has provided everything you could want. And she responds promptly to any questions. Thanks again, Carol!

Upstairs to Apartment with a View

Carol greeted us as we drove into our parking spot on her spacious driveway. She quickly ran through how to access her wifi and how to contact her if we needed anything. When we arrived this cozy apartment was super-clean and ready for us to just relax and enjoy the outstanding views of Bozeman and the Bridger Mountains to the north and the Spanish Peaks to the south. It was great to have such nice place so close to the city.

Sunset Serenades

I enjoyed interacting with Carol and feeling so welcomed by her and the extra special touches she provided, such as bouquets of peonies from her garden and homemade banana bread. We appreciated the privacy, the deck, fresh air/windows, the quiet, the beautiful views, a comfortable bed with cotton sheets, a full kitchen with good coffee, and the overall apartment was just right for two. We utilized both the laundry and the hideaway couch bed with a comfortable mattress topper. Going up to Hyalite Canyon was great and so close, and downtown less than 15 min away. Finally, the sunsets were so beautiful over the mountains and pastures, and I wish we could've stayed longer! Thank you Carol!

A little country and allot of luxury!

This past week I stayed at this wonderful vacation rental, and it is even better than the description and photos reveal! Everything is crisp and new, beautifully decorated, and yet cozy, warm, and comfortable. The kitchen is unbelievable...WOW! And then there is the deck off of the living area with a breathtaking view of the Bridger mountains, (wish I'd had more time to just relax and sunbathe on the deck). Actually, it's not possible to find a less than stunning view from any window in this apt! If you're looking for a tranquil environment surrounded by natural beauty, I highly recommend this rental...it is exceptional! Perfect for romantic occasions and special events; I'm seriously considering it (gift certificate) for my son's upcoming wedding/honeymoon. There is allot available to do with Hyalite Canyon just to the south, and downtown Bozeman a few minutes away. BTW, Bozeman has a fantastic downtown! I will definitely stay longer the next time!

Carol is an incredible host. From her personal greeting, to her homemade banana bread, and then her incredible generosity in mailing me something I left behind- this is truly the most generous host I’ve encountered on VRBO! On top of that, the home is lovely and very conveniently located. I wished I had more time to enjoy the view from the deck!

About the host

Hosted by Carol J Sanford

Host profile image
We moved to Bozeman in 1999 from Fairbanks, Alaska. I am a graduate of Seattle Pacific University with a degree in art.
Though I have lived at this home since 1999, the guest house/apt was added in 2014, and is right next to my home. You will have privacy but also know that I will be here if you have questions.
I grew up in Northwest Washington State and taught art at Enumclaw High School and at Green River Community College. Later I moved north with my husband to Fairbanks where our three children were born (my son and his family live here too!).
I love life in SW Montana! Bozeman has grown so much since we moved here...changing fast, but still has some of the charm of a small town.
I enjoy walking with my dog, teaching handbuilt pottery classes, playing pickleball, as well as gardening in the summer and shoveling snow in the winter! I'm also active in my church, Grace Bible Church.
People are friendly and the pace of life here is sweet. I know you'll like it!

Why they chose this property

When deciding to leave Alaska and find a new 'home' I chose Bozeman because of its size, its beautiful scenery, and the fact that there is a university here. Bozeman has changed, and is growing...all the more reason to love this "little bit o' country" I have here!
I enjoy having space around my home...rooms with views! Space to breathe the great mountain air! There is nothing to obstruct the beautiful views...and yet this property is still close to town. The paved roads around this property and VRBO are perfect and safe for a relaxing walk or energizing jog! Hyalite Recreation Area is right up the road!

What makes this property unique

When I first saw this big country home, I fell in love with it! Its farmhouse look with a big front porch reminded me of the home I grew up in out in coastal Washington State. I've added a large memorial perennial garden which I look forward to every summer as it emerges from a blanket of snow! The vacation rental is located in the building right next to my home with a private entrance.
