Plenty of space, privacy, and comfort! The large kitchen was perfect for late-night conversations and relaxed morning breakfasts. While we didn’t use the pool, we loved the spacious deck, grill, and hot tub. With parents and adult children in our group, having private suites made all the difference

Christmas Oasis in Sumter County

Wow, what a great stay. We've rented many homes on Homeaway, and this one was one of the best. Such a charming facility that had everything we needed, with plenty of space, privacy, comfort and accouterments. Large kitchen was perfect for late-night conversations and late-morning breakfasts, and while we didn't utilize the pool, we definitely took advantage of the spacious pool deck, grill and hot tub. We had a combination of parents and adult children, so everyone having their own space was important. The house is so well constructed and soundproof we hardly heard a soul. We used every room - including the magnificent dining room - and really felt we got the entire B&B treatment (even though we prepared our own meals). The flooring and interior structure is really something to behold - takes you back to when homes were built to last centuries, not decades. Brantley and Anne were such incredible, warm hosts that we wanted to invite them to spend the holidays with us! We shared a common geographical history, but there is a very good chance they'll share some common interests with you! Really appreciated the wheelchair-friendly access, too. While the house isn't necessarily wheelchair accessible (built in the late 1800s), the front porch and pool deck were easy to navigate for our visiting in-laws. There wasn't much to do in the immediate area around the property and its not particularly walk-friendly, but we spent a lot of time in the Villages visiting in-laws (about a 20 minute drive), so that was not an issue. If you're looking for a full-on family, college or other reunion with couples or kids, this place has to be top of your list if you're in Lady Lake, Weirsdale or the Villages. Frankly, you don't even have to leave the property to have an incredibly diverse and unique vacation experience.

Delightful stay!

Our family had a delightful Christmas celebration in Brantley and Anne,'s wonderful home. The house is immaculate and we enjoyed the large kitchen, comfy beds and fun pool. Our parents enjoyed the quiet and comfort of the cottage. Great place to stay with lots of nearby trails and spots to visit

Family Reunion

This is an absolutely delightful place for a warm & wonderful reunion of family or friends. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own private space or gather with the entire group. Lovely quaint touches and "personality" everywhere. Highly recommended if you want a relaxed, unique and memorable vacation gathering!!

Very Comfortable Property in All Respects

Property provided everything we wanted for a relaxing home while visiting nearby Villages. Everyone having their own bedroom with bath allowed individuals to maintain their own routines without impacting others. As the weather was perfect during our stay, we spent most of day and early evening around the pool and patio. The ability to congregate as a group in the evening was easy with the multiple large rooms on the first floor of the house. Overall a very enjoyable experience for the 4+ days we were there.

Family Reunion

Our family gathered for a reunion and the house proved to be a wonderful place to accommodate our group of nearly all ages. The highlight was time in the volleyball pool, and spending time together in the multiple common areas of the home. The rooms are set up to allow some independence for the different family units, and the kitchen and two dining rooms were more than sufficient to allow for enjoying that aspect of family life as well. It is in central Florida and we stayed in the dead of summer, so heat and wasps abounded, but there were accommodations made to deal with wasps (multiple spray bottles available), and the a/c was working efficiently. There are printed signs all around reminding guests to take care with certain items … some of our group found this off putting. It’s understandable but possibly could be presented differently. Also there are parts of the property that are not accessible and it seemed possible that one of those areas was occupied. Brantley was a wonderful host and checked in daily to make sure we didn’t need anything, and to make sure the pool remained free of debris and that the trash was removed. All in all we would definitely enjoy staying here again.

Family reunion with 18 of us from various parts of U.S.

We used all bedrooms which were well furnished and all had their own bathrooms! The kitchen was large and very well furnished with every appliance and gadget we needed. The pool was great and best sized for pool volleyball. We felt safe and secure. The owners were prompt in replying to any questions. Nearby were many forms of entertainment and stores. We loved this place.

Family Vacation

We were celebrating my mother's 60th birthday (a few months late) and it was perfect. The kids could swim, the kitchen was huge, and there was plenty of space for everyone. You aren't too far from stores but still outside of the city center.

A country charmer!

This was the perfect place for my whole family to spend the weekend celebrating my mother's birthday. Everyone was thrilled to have their own room and my parents loved the privacy of the separate cottage. The kids spent hours in the pool, running around in the huge backyard, and playing the piano. The adults enjoyed lounging on the pool deck and playing board games in the dining room in the evenings. The large kitchen was great. Even with multiple cooks in the kitchen, it never felt crowded. Our host, Brantley, stopped by to make sure everything was in order and shared some stories and laughs. A wonderful home for a memorable family gathering!

Great stay for my Dad's surprise 90th Birthday party

We traveled from Florida, Atlanta, Oklahoma and Connecticut for my Dad's 90th surprise birthday party/ House was wonderful fit all of the families that traveled, giving everyone their own space if needed. Patio area was perfect for our family BBQ party. Everyone had a great time and fully enjoyed our stay. Would highly recommend this property for large family reunions, more than plenty of room for all. House was well fitted and very clean. Owners were wonderful and available if needed.

Great Group Getaway

Just what we needed!

The house fit our needs! Each family group had their own room & bathroom. The pool and sitting area was wonderful. The owners returned calls immediately, answered all questions and fixed problems promptly. We cooked most of our meals in the large kitchen & found enough utensils & cooking items. The house sits away from town, secluded, great porch sitting, but super close with easy access to stores & restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we needed to.

Completely Amazing VRBO!!!

Brantley and Anne (pronounced "on ya"???) were the best hosts ever. I had arrived an hour later than anticipated and had stuff delivered to the house. (Walmart online shopping for groceries, saves time so you can enjoy your stay more). A few things arrived earlier but both Anne and Brantley put them aside until I arrived. It was a little intimidating at first because the house is so big and victorian but once they showed me around, I found it to be more than interesting. So many little rooms and the history of the house was quite interesting too. While Brantley was showing me some things, Anne was in the kitchen putting my groceries away. Now, I ask you, how many VRBO's have you been to actually do that? (Hold on, let me answer...NONE!!! As hosts, they made us feel welcome and like family. The entire place was impeccably clean and welcoming. Our family and friends could not say enough about it. We normally rent places and never really spend much time in them. Here, at the Shamrock Thistle and Crown BNB, we tried to rush thru our days just to sit around the back pool area and just spend time together as a family. That itself is a miracle! Thank you so much for all your help and assistance while we were there as well as after we left! :)

Seniors having a reunion

Our host was very accomodating and was readily available. Nice, well-stocked kitchen for cooking in. The house was very dark inside and there was no place for our large group to gather except the dining room table. The outside patio was lovely with two umbrella tables and extra chairs. The property needs a lot of maintenance, but that did not impact our stay. Overall, we had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend this property,

A wonderful place

Very easy to communicate with hosts who took care of us every step of the way. The home is so unique...great for a group as everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom and the kitchen is great for cooking for a big group. The back yard area and deck was also great to enjoy the florida son.

Great FL getaway

This home was perfect for our large family gathering! Relaxing rural setting with so much close by, however we enjoyed it so much we rarely left! The kitchen was a dream and perfect for making large family meals! Beds were comfy and the sheets and towels were super quality! And plenty of hot water! We spent hours playing volleyball in the pool and enjoying each other's company! And the hospitality and availability of Brantley and Anne were fabulous! Such great people!

Why they chose this property

We've owned this property since 1989, We're tucked away on a hill-top and close to Big Box shopping, dining and entertainment. We neighbor the Villages and close by Lake Weir. Hwy 42 is a scenic gateway for bikers enroute to Daytona or Leesburg bike fest - and, to area springs, wedding and show jumping venues. It's the perfect stop for commuting to the Daytona races, dirt or ATV biking in the Ocala National Forest and visiting many of our area springs.

The property was originally an orange grove with literally 100's of acres of citrus. This three acres property is home to many birds and a wonderful sunrise and sunset. We have plenty of room for parking cars and boats. It's an easy commute to Florida's beaches and Daytona Speedway. You'll love the surrounding rolling hills dotted with lakes and orange groves, lake side recreation and restaurants within five minutes. We're a short drive to hiking, biking trails on the Belleview Santos canopied bike park and horseback riding on the Florida Greenway (Cactus Jack trail rides).

MUST SEE AND DO: Rainbow Springs for tubing and kayaking circa 40 mins west of us. The Ocala National Forest and it's area springs are only 40 minutes to the east and are HUGE attractions for folks who want to snorkel, kayak and dive (especially, Alexander and it's HUGE Bowl) Juniper & Alexander springs are our most requested visitors sites. ALERT - arrive early to avoid disappointment on holiday weekends and summer 'Before/shortly after the park opens'.

Dining and nightly dancing - we're located very close to shopping, restaurants and entertainment on the Villages picturesque town squares. Also, ONLY 5mins from
Lake Weir dining and Wend Entertainment - also The Dragonfly tasting Winery and eats 2 mins west on CR42.

WHO doesn't prefer their own private bathroom? That's what you'll get here.

What makes this property unique

VALUE FOR MONEY - per family - we're LESS than the price of a hotel room. Every sleeping room has it's own private bathroom and TV. Private get away on three acres. very close to the Ocala National Forest, kayaking, tubing and bike trails. The Villages less than 8 mins for visiting grandparents and dancing on unique town squares. Your own private pool & kitchen. If you enjoy being tucked away with larger city happenings within reach - you'll fit right in here!
