About this property

Vetehuset-Skorda: Quiet Downtown Loft w/Elevator

This second floor studio apartment exceeds expectations with high-quality, comfortable furnishings and an inviting vibe. Vetehuset-Skorda provides a home base on Lindsborg's historic Main Street while exploring the countryside or simply walking out the door to shops and galleries.

The 150-year-old Berquist and Nelson Drugstore Building, where Vetehuset is nestled on the second floor, was awarded a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

You'll reach Vetehuset-Plantera (Swedish for "the Wheat House - Harvest") by taking the private elevator from the carport to the second floor. It is housed inside a structure, designed by Brian Freeman, that mimics a grain elevator, hence the name of this historic apartment. A lovely vestibule is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee as you check your email or plan your day. The Berquist and Nelson Drugstore Building, where Vetehuset is nestled on the second floor, was awarded a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Designed by Victoria Freeman, guests enter the studio apartment into a welcoming living room, where much of the historic floorplan has been honored and retained. The cozy sofa and two chairs form a lovely conversation area, while convenient coffee and end tables enjoying a beverage or snack so simple. You'll love the unusual artwork created by a local artist. Boasting plenty of light, you'll probably want to break out the novel you've been planning to read. Or you'll decide instead to stream your favorite show or a movie on the Smart TV with Hulu+Live TV with no ads using our Gigabyte high-speed internet.

You'll slumber in comfort and style in a king-size bed with a Casper mattress. The sleeping area is set apart from the living area, which creates a nice sense of separation and privacy not commonly found in most studio apartments. A closet is nearby.

A fully-equipped kitchen with full size stainless steel appliances and a quiet dishwasher is an unexpected pleasure at Vetehuset-Skorda. With plenty of cabinets and counter space, it's an easy task to whip up your favorite meals, even a midnight snack.

A dining table for four is adjacent to the kitchen and offers a comfortable, relaxed dining experience for guests.

In the bathroom, you'll find a door between the bathroom sink and the barrier-free walk-in shower, full-size bathtub and commode. The spacious laundry room features a front-loading washer and dryer, even a drying rack, that are shared with another vacation rental, Vetehuset-Plantera, next door.

While embracing its original historic construction, sustainability is literally built into Vetehuset-Skorda. The entire studio apartment is insulated for temperature and noise with insulation from recycled blue jeans. The interior is heated and cooled with high-efficiency electric heat pumps, often called minisplits. Appliances are Energy Star certified and plumbing fixtures offer low-flow efficiency. The recycling bin is found in the laundry room.

Prior to arrival, guests are provided with an entry code that will unlock the door to the elevator, hall and entry door. Be sure to lock the doors each time you leave Vetehuset-Skorda.

Contact information is provided near the telephone. Our intent is to leave guests alone to enjoy Lindsborg and central Kansas, unless you really need us.

Lovely place to stay for couples!
Veterhuset-Skorda was the perfect place to stay in Lindsborg. It's private, comfortable and so convenient to everything in downtown. We loved everything about the loft from the cool elevator, to the cute landing with a little table & chairs by the window, to the cool lights over the bed, to the amazing bathroom, the well-stocked kitchen and the comfortable living room. There was ample space in the two closets. We loved everything! We highly recommend this loft.

Great place to stay
Had everything you need including washer and dryer. Industrial look was totally cool and the elevator was a lift... Reminded me of the elevator at my first job that had a person operating it. Great place to stay

Short Get Away to Recharge
This loft was perfect for our short get away. We needed quiet and time to recharge. We were so happy with the layout. My wife could sleep and I could watch an old movie. The requested clean up on check oput was minimal. Kitchen was great with plenty of appliances. Car port was very nice too.

Hello, my name is Jim. As you may have guessed, I am a big fan of Lindsborg, KS for its friendly townsfolk and business owners. Perhaps also because, according to DNA test results, I’m 80% Swedish!
I was the first vacation rental owner in the area and my properties began as a kind of experiment to see if they would catch on. Fortunately, they did and my properties are now warmly embraced by the local community.
While I don’t live in Lindsborg, I have been welcomed into the community as a “local” who just happens to live elsewhere.
When I’m not tending to my vacation rentals, you will find me working in my commercial real estate business, where I own and rent commercial spaces for small businesses and apartments for local residents.
In my leisure time, I particularly enjoy genealogy (not a big surprise there!), traveling, and hiking.
I look forward to welcoming you to my properties in Little Sweden USA!

Why they chose this property

This is one of my three properties in Lindsborg, Kansas and was purchased as an experiment to see if guests would like to visit my adopted hometown. The experiment was a success!
The historic Berquist & Nelson Drug Store Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As part of its renovation, the second floor of this building now features two adjoining studio apartments that can be leased separately or together.

What makes this property unique

Lindsborg Kansas is known for its love of all things Swedish. Vetehuset-Plantera is a welcoming studio apartment decorated in the traditions of “lagom” and “hygge”, or just the right amount of comfort and contentment. This second floor studio apartment exceeds expectations with high-quality, comfortable furnishings and an inviting vibe. Vetehuset-Plantera provides a home base on Main Street while exploring this beautiful region or simply walking out the door to shops and galleries.
