About this property

Country setting 2-3 miles from the River, Luther College and downtown Decorah

The Garden View Suite offers 2000 square feet; an open floor plan for kitchen, living and dining; 3 very comfortable bedrooms; a tiled bathroom split into two rooms with the toilet and sink in one room and a deep soaking tub and sink in the other; free Wi-Fi and Satellite TV; a large patio with a charcoal barbeque grill (supply your own charcoal), portable fire pit (supply your own fire wood), and patio furniture overlooking the herb gardens. You will enjoy lots of natural light during the day and peaceful nights to for rest and renewal. This is an upstairs/downstairs duplex. We the owners live in the upstairs part of the duplex and are available if needed but give you total privacy otherwise.

We are located in a lovely rural setting while still being only 5 minutes from Luther College and downtown Decorah. The accommodations are private, spacious, and very convenient to restaurants, activities, and sites. Ample parking is available. There are walking trails on the property and space for campfires.

Decorah is a thriving community with a wonderful mix of cultural opportunities including theatre, art galleries, biking / walking trails, parks, restaurants, organic foods, seasonal farmers market, education, and outdoor recreation including trout streams, canoeing, tubing, kayaking and fishing the Upper Iowa River.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
If you had a dog inside, vacuum all dog hair before departure.
If you moved furniture, move all indoor and outdoor furniture back to their original locations before departure.,
If you used outdoor fireplace or grill, put them back in their original locations and put ashes in the metal ash bucket.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
All dog hair must be vacuumed before departure. All dog waste must be picked up and disposed of. Pets are not to be left unattended or be disruptive.
Wash and put away all dishes or load and start the dishwasher before departure.
Leave bedding on the beds and garbage in their receptacles for us to empty.

So nice we have stayed twice!

Love everything about this place, even after our second time there. Great location and close to fishing, hiking, biking, breweries, wonderful food and more. Our dog loved it too. Can’t wait for our third stay.

Private, quiet, serene

Property is large with gorgeous views. Barbara and David are very pleasant, were reapectful of our time, and it felt private even though they were just upstairs. Sammy, their vizsla, is also super sweet. The place was homey and comfortable. We VERY much appreciated bringing our canine family members and they loved all the room to run. Location a short drive to downtown. Definitely would stay again if they would have us.

Wonderful place to stay!

The home is just outside of town but extremely easy to get to all of things Decorah has to offer while still being private and secluded with beautiful views of the sunrise every morning. We had everything we could need with ease to come and go as we needed and they were very generous to let us bring our dog with as well. Worth the stay!

My family loved our stay here. The amenities, like the full kitchen and washer/dryer, were wonderful. The environment was peaceful, soothing, and cozy. It's also great to see the use or availability of natural, environmentally-friendly products such as the hand soaps and cleaning products.

This property was perfect for our family - adults, toddlers, baby, and even our two family dogs! It was very spacious, clean, fully equipped, and a great location! The property owners were readily available and gracious, but also respected our privacy. We'll stay there again!

Property had little to no parking. Tenants lived upstairs and were a little nosy. Watering their plants while we were on downstairs patio. Directions were not well explained. No control over AC or heat. Cluttered living area furniture and outdoor was wet not enough resources to start fire.

This charming three bedroom apartment is in a lovely setting with beautiful view. I have stayed here once before and I love being close to downtown while enjoying the beautiful grassy surroundings where I can walk my dog.

Beautiful Iowa

This couldn’t been a more perfect place for my visit to see my son his wife and my new grandchild! Property was spectacular, and I enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of Washington DC! Beautiful setting

This was our second stay at Windomere and it did not disappoint. The home is located on a beautiful hillside with a great view. The bird feeders attract all types of birds that held the attention of all of us. The home is clean and spacious and was perfect for our family of 6 visiting for Christmas at Luther.

A little bit of heaven

Sammy greeted us first. Sammy is the owners dog, what a nice and friendly dog. We did not bring our dog but wished that we had. It was quite, peaceful, with lots of birds to watch. We enjoyed the hummingbirds which put on quite an acrobatic show as only they can do. Would love to come again.

We built our home in 2004. David was very involved in the building and both of us were very involved in the designing of our two level home. Both levels are complete with lots of natural light and plenty of windows overlooking the Upper Iowa River Valley. Each level is a complete living quarters. Our needs have changed as we have entered retirement so we are now sharing our home with visitors like you, who come to enjoy the Decorah area. We have 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren and a beloved dog. We live a wonderful life and are happy to share our home with you.

Why they chose this property

As a young couple we came to the Decorah area to canoe the Upper Iowa River and enjoy the natural beauty and rich culture. We eventually decided to make Decorah home for our growing family and after being the stewards of a beautiful country homestead near Decorah, we ultimately were led to this location which we dearly love.
