About this property
FERNWALK: 5-Star cottage that's soothing to the soul.
THIS SPOTLESS LITTLE GEM IS ROMANTIC, COMFORTABLE, WELL-APPOINTED AND SPACIOUS!. WE DO OUR BEST TO HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED FOR A FABULOUS VISIT!
Are you looking for something a bit more plush than the ordinary vacation rental? Do you crave a peaceful and romantic retreat? You have found it in Fernwalk, an upscale, 2-bedroom, 2-bath house that has been fully renovated and outfitted with your comfort and relaxation in mind. It is a tasteful blend of 1948, mission, prairie, with Zen nuances, fully stocked with every necessity and modern convenience one might desire. Fernwalk is designed to offer a romantic and peaceful haven for adults and as such is in no manner childproof, however, we do welcome non-mobile infants and well-behaved older children.
Our lavishly equipped chef's kitchen with granite counters is a delight in which to create a gourmet feast, or choose to relax outdoors on the large deck and barbecue your perfect filet. There are restaurants ranging from casual to 5-star within an easy and scenic drive of Fernwalk should you choose not to cook. Breakfast is available if reserved in advance at 5-star local B&B. More information will be in the Dining & Activities Guide we provide.
The open concept living and dining room host high quality local Amish furniture, as well as a comfy leather couch, vintage wooden rockers, and remote controlled gas-log fireplace. Enjoy the convenience of Wifi, a flat screen TV and entertainment center, an iPod dock, and in-house movies, music and more.
The two spacious bedrooms each offer high quality queen beds with luxury bedding, ceiling fans, sound machines, and tastefully functional furnishings. The Mountain Room has an en-suite bath with a roomy, tiled shower, and Craftsman inspired, granite topped vanity. The Meadow Room is conveniently located next to the spacious hall bath, which has a decorator-tiled soaker tub/shower unit. Both baths offer the warmth and comfort of heated tile floors.
For parties of 5 or 6 guests, we offer Aerobeds and quality bedding which may be set up in the bedrooms or the sunroom.
Although not handicap accessible, once inside, the house is all on one-level. There are several steps required to enter Fernwalk and the washer and dryer, if needed, are in the basement. There is one walk-in shower with a small curb and one very deep tub for your luxurious bath. Bring slippers and your favorite bath salts! Neither tub nor shower have hand rails, but a shower chair is available to be used at your discretion. Alternately, the Hartzell House B & B next door has a fully accessible 1st floor suite designed to accommodate guests with special needs; reserve well in advance to ensure availability.
Positively NO smoking, and sorry, no pets. Fernwalk is a haven for those who suffer from allergies or who prefer low VOC, dander-free and low to no toxin exposure. We use natural cleaning products and even chose a certified organic USA-made carpet in the living room.
Since Covid, our one-time cleaning fee has been adjusted to $120, so consider three nights, if you can. Additionally, 11% state and local taxes are added to your rate. Extended stays can benefit from terrific discounts. Please inquire within. Rates are for 4-people; maximum occupancy is 6. There is a 2-night minimum; 3 on holidays. If you have any questions or special needs, please call. We do our very best to accommodate.
After your day exploring the area, grill up a perfect filet and relax on the large deck. Or, get out your book and enjoy one of the rockers on the morning porch while waiting for the moon to rise. After dark, the comfy couch and gas-log fireplace will provide a secure, relaxing, comfy and casually luxurious atmosphere. A flat screen TV and entertainment center is there for movies, sports, music and more. There are plenty of local dining and attraction resources available for you at Fernwalk, plus the computer is always at your fingertips.
Fernwalk is easy to find; it is less than a ¼ mile off Route #40, the National Road and only 6 miles from I-68. It's in a quiet little village on the old original pike... it’s like going back in time! Come… kick off your shoes and relax and consider Fernwalk your home away from home.
On occasion, there may be a reservation pending, but not showing on the calendar, so please book as far in advance as possible to prevent any disappointments. Thank you for visiting the Fernwalk listing and enjoy your trip wherever you stay!
