Total upgrade 2022. Added 2nd Master Suite, major deck expansion and all new stainless steel appliances. Family getaway or adult oasis. You decide. Amazing cottage on the Buckhannon River. Wonderful views, amazing hikes, great fishing and tons of outdoor activities. For the protection and security of guests, we have installed a Ring Doorbell on the front door of our cottage.

We are reachable by cell phone throughout your stay and we have local caretakers in case you need help with something at the house.

This rural area of Upshur County is truly unique. From the dynamic river, to the beautiful mountain vistas, it is a place where you can recharge physically and mentally.

This is a rental for the full house. Make yourself at home and use all of the amenities including the canoe.

This beautiful house is away from it all with all the modern conveniences. Come make memories that will last a lifetime in this Buckhannon River Cottage.

Our house is about 20 minutes from Buckhannon. There is plenty of parking for your car, RV or toy hauler.

Bring your ATVs, bicycles, fishing gear and hiking shoes. The outdoor possibilities are endless.
Due to extreme allergies, this house is completely animal free. We cannot have animals of any kind in this house.

Gorgeous house in secluded location

Really nice house exactly as described. Beautiful deck overlooking the river with osprey and eagles soaring around. Everything was comfortable and just as described. It was a bit of a drive to get back to “civilization” but really nothing was out of reach. Loved our stay and would come back if the opportunity presents itself!

Beautiful House in a Beautiful Setting

We are six senior kayakers who enjoyed three nights in this spacious, modern house on the Buckhannon River. This is a great choice if you are looking for a beautiful river view, listening to several species of birds, and don't mind the remote location. Not sure when the train runs, but we didn't hear it.

What a gem!

This house was great! We made awesome memories and enjoyed all it had to offer! The river was beautiful, and caught some fish! Beds were comfortable, lots of room to spread out and the deck was phenomenal! Kitchen has all you will need to cook, bedrooms were a great size! Just a great time had by all!

Wonderful weekend in West Virginia

The home was updated and clean. The fishing was great. The scenery was very pretty. It's off the beaten path and the neighbors are a little intimidating, but they were as kind and welcoming as the property owners. I highly recommend this home for an off the grid getaway.

We had a wonderful time and really appreciate how clean and organized the home was. We were looking forward to the train, which never passed through. I highly recommend this property, wonderful, remodeling, easy check-in, and beautiful, relaxing location. The owners communicated clearly and available if needed.

Warm, Inviting River Retreat

Our girlfriend get away was wonderful here at the river cottage. Nine women from five states we're surrounded by God's beauty this past weekend! The house was well stocked and comfy! The caretakers were friendly and helpful. We will be staying again. Only downside was the roads getting into the site - mainly a one car road and definitely a little intimidating if you're not used to country roads in WV.

Scenic Serenity

The directions provided to find the house are detailed and were much appreciated. The house is beautiful. Clean. Plenty of room for everyone. The decor is warm and welcoming. The deck is awesome! Perfect for relaxing after an adventure filled day. The grandchildren enjoyed the house and the river. They enjoyed playing with the toy trucks. Nice selection of children's books for bedtime story time. Lannette was easy to communicate with. I would recommend this piece of "Heaven in a River".

Had a fantastic getaway in this beautiful home...made me feel like it was a home away from home...the only complaint I have is directions to get there...we lost a lot of hours from being lost :-(...other than that it was a fantastic time! The only thing that could make it any better is a hot tub!! Thank you!!!

Beautiful

It was a very clean and beautiful house. We had a couple issues getting there due to gps taking us on non-paved roads, but once there, we had no complaints. We eventually figured out the best route to take. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast for everyone. There was plenty of room for everyone to relax and sleep comfortably. The house is located in a very quiet area.

Beautiful home!

We enjoyed our stay. This home was beautiful, very clean and had everything we needed. I was very impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked (waffle iron, crock pot and every utensil you will need) We absolutely loved the location. Mother nature decided to be a little crazy and we had everything from snow, extremely high winds and lots of rain. The owners were so helpful when we lost power. It was nice meeting Lanette and George. If you have an issue I promise they will quickly help. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

First visit to West Virginia

Pro: New/ just remodel house, spacious, well stock with kitchen appliances and utensils. Table pGames for children, wifi was great and tv services. Calm relaxing neighborhood and river view. Mattresses were comfortable enough. Nice hiking scenery around train tracks and view of wild life. Cons: Asian beetles alive and death in the upper rooms, we clean them the first night we got in the house, but they keep getting into the bedrooms and we have to pick them out of the beds, no cool. House it is really nice, minus the bugs.

Beautiful home and property

Me, my husband, and our 3 teenagers stayed here and absolutely loved this property! The house is beautiful, spacious, and equipped with everything you could need! The Kitchen is well stocked and even had basic cooking pantry supplies like salt, pepper, sugar etc. The huge deck out back is perfect for relaxing and listening to the birds chirp or watching the kids play in the river and eating meals at the large outdoor dining set. The river out back is stunning and the fishing is great. We caught many bass and trout during our stay. WiFi was great which was good to load our maps/GPS bedore we went out exploring the area. We visited the nearby city of buckhannon which was about a 30 minute drive and has anything you would need like fast food, gas stations, grocery stores etc. We also visited nearby Audra state park and it was a beautiful place with trails to hike and a nice place to swim in the river. The owners are very responsive and helpful if you need them, we would definitely stay again!

Nature retreat

This was the perfect place for our family to relax and regroup. We immensely enjoyed floating on the river, canoeing, sitting on the deck listening to nature, and walking up and down the railroad tracks looking at the incredible rock formations. We also ate on the deck, played board games, and worked puzzles. The property had everything we needed and we would definitely come back. Some words of caution - one of the neighbors did target practice twice daily (at least during our stay) and it really startled my dad (a Vietnam vet who is leary around loud sounds like fireworks and gunshots). The same neighbors had dogs that barked a lot (we are dog lovers and we still found it excessive). It wouldn’t deter us from staying again and I’d highly recommend this property for a getaway but I just wanted anyone in your party to be aware of those things if it’s important to you. Overall - fabulous stay!

Quiet Getaway!!

We were looking for a quiet getaway to just have fun and relax. This was the perfect house and location for us. My father is a disabled veteran and he wanted the comforts of home with opportunities to go fishing and just relax. He was not disappointed. My husband and kids love to go fishing, so they would take the canoe out or walk down the railroad tracks and go fishing for hours. We also walked down the tracks with our rafts and enjoyed rafting down the river as a family. The next day, some of us were a little sore, so the Jacuzzi tub was awesome to relax in. The house came fully stocked with towels, toilet paper, paper towels, plates and much more. The best part of our vacation was just sitting on the porch overlooking the river and just relaxing. I would recommend this house for anyone trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Great House

Start with the not positive, the house is located in a valley so winter weather made the roads not so great. The freezer could have been cleaner and lack of local stations made following weather and watching football games tough. The internet is not great.... Other than that, our stay was absolutely amazing! The house was perfect for our needs, warm, loved being on the river, and comfy couches. The little touches took it over the top. Plenty of blankets and seating. The house was very warm! We would definitely stay again, would like to be there in the summer also.
