The view was remarkable. Right up on the STL River, with Canada across in beautiful foliage! The property is older, and maybe the photos don't show that well. However it was well maintained, and very clean. It has no central heat/HVAC, but the owner had several electric heaters going that worked fine for us. There was also a gas fireplace that blew more heat when needed. Some bees found their way in, and I told the owner who said she would have it sprayed. I think the kitchen windows were not well closed and when we closed the windows completely in the kitchen, they stayed out. The shower is similar to a cruise ship in terms of very small space, but it was fine, with hot water and a good flow. We came 2nd week of October, and things are getting closed in Clayton. It was very quiet. It could get noise in the middle of the summer given the many summer homes nearby. We really enjoyed our 4 nights in the area. Sitting on the deck and seeing ships go by was relaxing.
This location was a perfect spot to view the huge ships moving along the Saint Lawrence and also was just short drive to neighboring villages to visit restaurants and museums.
A little slice of heaven. Everything about this little cottage was perfect. We had wall to wall sunshine. Great fishing off the dock, kayaking was awesome, the sunsets were amazing. Enjoyed floating in the river during the day and hanging out on the dock in the evening. House had everything we needed to prepare meals. And the town of Clayton has great restaurants and lots of places to get ice cream. And I can't forget the ships, my 10 year old found a app called marine tracker. So we were able to track them in real time. Thanks again Beth, will be back soon.
We had such a wonderful week, thank you Beth! The kitchen was well stocked with good quality dishes, when I rained we made a cake, turned on the fireplace and enjoyed our day inside. The boathouse was a wonderful bonus for our bass boat. We cannot wait to schedule our next trip to your wonderful cottage. All you need is your groceries and clothes, everything else is there for you, grab this one before it’s booked!
Loved our 3 night stay. It was exactly how its shown in the pics, perfect location. I am obsessed with the freighters passing by and was not disappointed!! We enjoyed our fires by the lake at night, and slept great in the comfy bed. We love Clayton, maybe a 10 minute drive. Would definitely recommend staying her. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage !!
This was a great stay - our family used to have a place close by and we were looking to re-live family memories in the area - the experience certainly did not disappoint. The cottage surpassed our expectations, was very comfortable, and our host made the whole experience as easy as can be. We will definitely come back again!
The rental place was great and well attended by Beth and Scott. The disappointment was that it poured half the week plus we had difficulty getting in to restaurants for dinner. Most were closed Mondays and Tuesdays or had availability at 5pm or 8:30pm. Very frustrating.
The property was very nice and well-maintained. The scenery was beautiful too. Beth communicated with me several times just to be sure that all was well, and it was!
I would definitely stay here again!
This cottage combines an old time charm with modern comforts. It is very clean and bright with large windows giving fantastic views of the river from the living room and dining room. It was too chilly for the deck but I did enjoy the sun at the end of the dock. The cottage is conveniently located near the village of Clayton and a short drive to Alexandria Bay And Cape Vincent.
We were looking for a nice place on the St Lawrence to relax for a few days. This place was perfect! Haven’t relaxed this much in years. Great view , and very comfortable.
The cottage was clean, location with view amazing, only about 15 min to Clayton shopping/restaurants. There’s a full grocery store in Clayton and à Ma and Pop store right down the road from the cottage. Cedar Point campground is in walking distance and has a boat launch which can be viewed from the cottage. The dock was great for fishing and swimming and the kids loved seeing the cargo ships go by. Beth was great, and made sure everything was good during our stay. We would stay here again. Thanks Beth!
This is the perfect house and the perfect location to do as much or as little as you want. Beth and Scott put a lot of thought into all the little things to make a wonderful stay. Loved watching the freighters go by from the deck, especially at night. Very quiet and peaceful. We'd love to return again in the future.
House was very clean, kitchen was well stocked, the dock and boat house were perfect for us, communication with the owner was great. We hope to be back again!
We selected this cottage because of the family room with the fabulous deck + view - the floor to ceiling windows did not disappoint! The couch + chair were very comfortable w/ good TV for the cold, rainy Saturday he had ! Cottage was neat, clean, cute and communication was very easy. We enjoyed drinks and dinner at the nearby historic St Lawrence Chateau - highly recommend it. Cottage is about 10 min from Clayton(little grocery story) + 15-20 min to Alex Bay. We took the Singer Castle cruise and tour which we loved - great if you like historic house tours - cruise takes an hour to get there. The only thing was at the cottage our verizon phones kept giving mssgs about being in Canada - you may want to check on that before you go- being so close to the border.
