About this property
Million Dollar Sunsets on the St Lawrence - Thousand Islands Waterfront Cottage!
Riverfront cottage located on the St. Lawrence River in Cape Vincent NY.
RENOVATED in 2026...ready for the 2026 season. the Main Bedroom and Bathroom have doubled in size. Washer/Dryer added in the expanded bathroom. Covered porch and new deck added as well. See photos!!
Quaint riverfront cottage has 2 bedrooms, plus a pull out futon to sleep a total of 5. Enjoy spectacular sunsets over the river on the lawn or on the covered deck with views of Carleton and Wolfe Islands. There is also a deck over the water to enjoy a drink and refreshing river breezes. Approximately 70 feet of river frontage allows for excellent swimming and fishing. The water is shallow by the shore and gradually gets deeper. The river bottom at the shore is flat bedrock (nicknamed "Mermaid Rock" by a previous guest") which is great for kids, easy on the feet and great for just sitting and cooling off!
Enjoy what the 1000 Islands region has to offer. The St Lawrence River is known for some of the best freshwater fishing in the United States. Annual events in Cape Vincent include the French Festival and 4th of July Celebration. A quick trip down the road is Clayton which hosts the annual Wildlife and Decoy show, The New York State Food and Wine Festival , the annual Thousand Islands Boat Show, as well as antique and craft shows. You can also take a day trip to nearby Alexandria Bay for a visit to the historic Boldt Castle or Singer Castle, take a boat tour of the Island Mansions or participate in the annual Pirates weekend. Locally, a wine tasting tour is a great way to spend an afternoon. The region has numerous outstanding wineries including the Cape Winery, the 1000 Islands Winery, and White Caps Winery just to name a few.
Boating on the St Lawrence river is legendary. Take the 45 minute boat ride Tibbetts Point Lighthouse in Cape Vincent where the St Lawrence River and Lake Ontario meet. Other popular boating destinations that are close by for swimming include Potter's Beach on Grindstone Island, Dodge Bay and Sand Bay on the Cape Vincent mainland (both very close by) and the bay at Picton Island. Along the way you will pass many islands and coves if you want to anchor and swim with few (if any) other boats in the area. Carleton Island is popular with boaters and is the main view from the Cottage. Visit North Bay on Carleton Island where the historic British Fort, Fort Haldimand, once stood in the late 1700's and early 1800's. You can also see the remains of the Carleton Island Villa, a remnant from the gilded age of castles here in the Thousand Islands (late 1800's-early 1900's).
The deck over the water is shared with one other adjacent cottage as are the 2 picnic tables grills ( a gas grill, a charcoal grill and 2 fire pits). If you have a larger party, you can book them both! See listing 1128364.

Great place and the owner Wes very responsive when we had questions. The property was beautiful and the sunsets couldn’t be beat! This place is a no brainer!
The location is great, very close to both Cape Vincent and Clayton, with lots to do around the area. The kids had loads of fun swimming and snorkeling in the water. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend for a nice relaxing family vacation cottage.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the St. Lawrence while staying at this cottage! The host was excellent, and took care to show me the place on arrival. The views from the living room, and the access to the water were lovely.

All my best
Our stay in Cape Vincent was as relaxing and refreshing as it has been over the past four or five years that we’ve stayed in this cottage. The area is very quiet, the views are spectacular, and the sunsets are breathtaking! This adorable vintage cottage is everything we need when we want to get away.

Awesome
I couldn't have asked for a better stay David's hospitality was awesome. Thank you.
Dave was a wonderful host! The cottage had a great view of the river and beautiful sunsets. It had everything we needed to for our week stay. It had a nice little swimming area and a fire pit overlooking the river. Dave was even nice enough to let us dock our boat at his camp right down the road. We hope to be back soon!

Thank you, I was so great to meet you all....a wonderful family. Hope to see you again at the river!!
We enjoyed the cottage very much. Location near the river is beautiful with amazing sunsets. Cottage accommodated us four, 3 adults and one child comfortably. The bedrooms are small and there really isn’t any place for your clothes other than a few hooks on the wall. The cottage is well stocked and decorated very cute. We had a wonderful time.
We were looking to enjoy a week by The River where we could not only enjoy the views but enjoy swimming and fishing. Which we were able to do here! We found our Host and Hostess to be very welcoming. We enjoyed visiting with them. The cottage is cozy and had everything we needed. The location offered all that we hoped. We’ll certainly consider returning if the opportunity arises.
The location and view are excellent. Our hosts were kind and helpful. Cottage is very clean and met all our needs. Appliances all worked. We spent a lot of time on the deck. The space inside was a bit tight for entertaining, but we managed once. Fewer knick-knacks on surfaces might increase overall spaciousness and function. We would stay here again.
Great location . Beautiful view of the St Lawrence. Owner very attentive. Beds/ mattresses uncomfortable. No comfortable seating. No oven , washer or dryer , so not suitable for long stays .

I'm sorry you were not satisfied with your stay. We have never had any negative feedback on the beds or the seating. That being said we will take steps to upgrade these amenities. We will have new mattresses and a new Futon in by Aug 6.
Although there is no conventional oven, there is a toaster oven and microwave oven. Thank you again and it was great to meet you both!
If it is dark when you arrive. Call host for guidance. No number on cottage. Heather was ver helpful. Loved location to Carlton island & watching ships in channel. Grew up on the Hall Compound in the Summer with my dad, Doc Hall, 4 sisters and brother. Great location for fishing and sailing. Cottage had everything necessarily including towels & linens. Bring hangers if want to keep clothes wrinkle free on provided hooks. Enjoy the deck over the water. Mermaid beach is great for wading in the shallow water and then swimming in the depth. This place is hard to beat. Have fun.
Beautiful, well equipped cottage with water view and very friendly hosts
We spent six wonderful days in this charming cottage in Millen Bay, right by the water as a family of four. The sunsets are indeed fantastic and water access is easy (we had three kayaks that we could launch right from the property). Snorkeling with the kids right from the waterfront at the property allowed us to see river bass protecting their eggs and fry. A little deck right at the water was great for enjoying the sunsets and witnessing river life. Lots to do in the Thousand Islands area beyond just the few days that we had available. To Clayton and Cape Vincent it’s just about 10min by car; Alexandria Bay, Cape Vincent and Sackets Harbor are less than 30min drive. We could easily have spent a few more weeks. The hosts Dave and Heather were super-welcoming and very attentive to our needs; they even invited us to watch a fantastic July 4th fireworks display in Millen Bay together. Unforgettable vacation for our whole family!
We thought we would be walking from our cottage directly onto a fishing pier ---- instead we had to walk past another cottage and people only to discover we couldn't fish there ---Only 3 to 10 inches depth of water at pier . Both grills were rusted beyond use . But All In All , We Had A GREAT Vacation

Hi Al, I’m am disappointed in myself in that I was not aware of the condition of the grills and had a brand new one delivered on Aug 18.
As for the water level, it fluctuates during the season with higher levels early in the season and lower levels later in the season. Safe travels and it was great to meet you both!
This little cottage is adorable. We loved all of the windows which surround the living space to look out at the beautiful scenery of the river. It was very clean, cozy, and we had everything we could need for our 4 night stay. One evening near dusk we used a kayak and canoe and it was wonderful to get out on the water when it was calm. The owners went ABOVE and BEYOND with their communication and hospitality, and the neighbors welcomed us as well. If you are looking for a quaint cottage with a breathtaking river view just a little bit away from it all, then this is your place. Thank you, Dave & Heather...We would love to come back in the future!

Thank you so much!!! We really enjoyed meeting you and your family and look forward to having you back to the Thousand Islands!
After finding this property we loved the location and view of the river. The only problem was the lack of a freezer in the old refrigerator in the cottage. We needed ice and found none when we arrived and no nearby access to ice. The ice area needed defrosting and had inches of ice buildup. Disappointed. We discussed with the owner who seemed indifferent. Location is best!!

Thank you for your comments Justin, we have replaced the refrigerator and freezer. I certainly didn't intend to appear indifferent, as there are several places within 10 minutes to obtain ice. Thank you again and safe travels in the future!
