About this property
Creekfront with Dock --Restful and beautiful, time stops here. Bring Boat
This is a rare and unique creek house located on the creek in Murrells Inlet. It has been in our family for more than 100 years, and has been renovated and updated inside for comfort and modern conveniences The house comes with a private dock built in 2017, and a floating dock if you wish to bring your boat. We are 1/4 mile south of the public boat ramp in Murrells Inlet. Plenty of parking on our lot for boat trailers. Electric power and fresh water hoses on dock. Dock is new since 2016, and it has electric power and fresh water available. There is a floating dock, and a fish cleaning station on the dock. The creek is navigable at all tides from the dock, and there is a swim ladder on the dock. Guests can enjoy activities such as swimming, fishing, crabbing, oystering, clamming, and boat riding. Free Kayaking from our floating dock is made easy. We have 5 kayaks and 4 bicycles which are included. Owner, with permission, sometimes has access to his boat, which is kept separate from the dock on a boat lift. This will not unduly interfere with your use of the dock. Beaches (Pawleys Island, Litchfield, and Garden City) are minutes away by car. Renown Brookgreen Gardens and Huntington State Park, 3 miles away, are jewels on the Grand Strand. The public boat ramp is 1/4 mile to our north. This property has almost a acre of land on the Inlet under beautiful 300 year old live oaks and has a great grassy front yard near the Inlet which is a safe , wonderful play area for children. Please bring life jackets for smaller children so that they can fish, crab, and play on the dock. Bring you own fishing gear. This is one of the few remaining original creek houses left on the waterfront, and is full of nostalgia and history. We have many who book a year in advance to return. Laid back, restful, quiet and private. The house is wheelchair assessable.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house. So many beds. The view was so beautiful. Loved the dock. Only thing is bringing sheets and towels needs to be updated in rules. We will definitely go again.
Our group really enjoyed our stay at Marshmere. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the back porch or dock enjoying the beautiful views. Very convenient to the marsh walk. We hope to stay again.

Nice spot for sure. Would definitely return as it is quiet but close to many restaurants and local shops. Highly recommend the area and look forward to getting back soon
We had our best vacation ever at Marshmere. It’s hard to describe how special the home, property, and dock are. We just feel blessed to have had the opportunity to make memories there. Thank you, Mr. Rice! Kindest Regards, The Simpson Family
A wonderful "summer cabin" with large rooms, a waterfront facing porch with rockers and hammock...who could ask for more? The owners couldn't have been nicer. The property was close to restaurants and attractions, yet so quiet and peaceful. We definitely will return!
Absolutely wonderful vacation rental. The views are incredible !! The Rices are so nice and easy to work with ! Great family vacation rental

Marshmere is a large and comfortable home with a well equipped kitchen, lots of comfortable seating, and cozy beds a-plenty. While not out gallivanting, we spent most of our time on the porch overlooking the marsh. Kayak access was super easy and loads of fun! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Best fall weekend getaway!
We loved staying at Marshmere for a girls weekend in October. The views each morning and at sunset were picturesque and being within walking distance of the Marshwalk was so convenient. It truly was an experience to remember! The house has all the charm you would expect for an old creek house. Book your stay as soon as you can—you won’t regret it!

We are glad you enjoyed our nostalgic creek house in Murrells Inlet.
Our decorator, Lynn Smith, helped preserve the charm.
You may know her.
Thanks for the nice review, and come back when you can. Best, L. Rice
Our golf group stayed at Marshmere for six wonderful days enjoying sitting on the back porch watching the tide come in and walking out to have a drink on the dock. The natural world surrounds you.

About the host
Hosted by Mr. Rice
This is a family house and dock, which has been in our family for 100 years. We require all renters to take special care of our beloved property, and are glad share our treasure with deserving, caring visitors. One of the last old creek houses on the Inlet, modernized and comfortable for current use.
Why they chose this property
We cater to young couples with children, families and small family reunions, fishermen and water themed users. Rules: Those who anticipate having house parties, men's golf groups, and college breaks would much prefer Myrtle Beach to Marshmere. We do not allow guests to have noisy parties in the yard, no weddings, or other events which may disturb our neighbors. We are zoned residential, and we wish to maintain the quiet solitude and ambiance we have come to know in Murrells Inlet. Primary renter must be at least 25 years of age, and of reputable character.
What makes this property unique
Much porch sitting (one open porch, one screened, on water side) and dock use are primary activities at our beloved house.
