At 4 km from the center of Lipari, the Red House is located in an area of the island particularly protected in its natural aspect, an ideal place for those seeking total contact with the power of the elements and a quiet vacation surrounded by lush vegetation, from Mediterranean maquis to reeds, ferns and olive trees and a garden with tangerines, lemons, palms, oleanders, vines and fruit trees.
From the spacious and shady patio, facing the sea, you can see the island of Vulcano on the right, Panarea and Stromboli on the left: a unique panorama.
Divided into three separate blocks (with a single fully equipped kitchen in the main residence), the house allows an authentic "Aeolian" experience.
The house is accessed by a road that leads to the promontory in front of the island of Vulcano .
This access was actually a path that has now become a driveway and is one-way alternating.
For this reason to reach the house with a vehicle it is necessary that it is not wider than 170 cm.

Tre notti a Casa Rossa

Pensavo di scrivere questo. Volete aggiungere o modificare qualcosa? La casa è davvero molto bella, gode di un’ottima vista panoramica. È posizionata alla fine di una stradina molto stretta, a strapiombo, ma protetta da ringhiera in ferro. Incontrare una macchina nel senso opposto diventa un problema se non si è nei pressi di un unico slargo. Occhio alle dimensioni delle auto, noi ci siamo trovati bene con una Fiat Panda. Potenzialmente la casa è meravigliosa, ampi spazi esterni con tavoli per poter mangiare e divano e sdraio per il relax, la zona giorno grande e le camere da letto ampie con soffitti alti. Peccato per la pulizia, nota molto dolente! Andrebbe approfondita accuratamente in ogni angolo e superficie. Utensili e suppellettili ovunque riempiono gli spazi interni. Così come andrebbe migliorata la gestione della raccolta differenziata, mancano i bidoni da riporre su strada e c’è una certa tendenza a mischiare tutto. In casa la presenza di gechi sulle pareti è costante. Posto auto all’interno della proprietà a ridosso della scalinata di ingresso, quest’ultima molto ripida. Fare attenzione nella salita e nella discesa, si rischia di scivolare. Non abbiamo conosciuto Daniela, molto carina e disponibile al telefono, ci ha accolto la signora Maria.

Beautiful view and Well-equipped kitchen

This home was the best equipped for cooking of any place we stayed in Sicily. We ate wonderfully here! Two of our company had real difficulty with steps to house because of physical disabilities, but we managed well. Owner was truthful and took good care of our concerns immediately. Lovely place!

in a category of its own....

Six of us (3 couples) spent a delightful 5 days at Casa Rossa just before Easter 2015. We had hired cars for a longer holiday in Sicily and brought them over to Lipari on the ferry. It would be difficult to stay at Casa Rossa without a vehicle of some kind. The access road to Casa Rossa is around 300m long, with some inclines and one very narrow part. We first arrived in the dark, which was a challenge, but it looked better next day, and we were expert after a couple of days. A key thing is to bring a narrow vehicle - preferably under 1.75m wide. There are plenty of hire cars that fall under this limit - see the list at the end of this message. Casa Rossa comprises three more or less separate units, with bathrooms in each, the main kitchen and living room are in the "old" part, with a separate kitchen in the "apartment". The different parts are built sympathetically to the style of the old part. The bedrooms, living rooms and outside areas are large, well-decorated, clean and exceptionally well-equipped. Some of the fittings, especially in the bathrooms and in the apartment kitchen, are exceptionally modern and high-quality. Views from the terrace and all rooms are to the east and are superb, with Vulcano over to the right and Stromboli to the left. Outside areas have plenty of shade and are well sheltered from the prevailing westerly winds. Casa Rossa more than lived up to our expectations - peaceful, superbly located, and expertly managed by owner Daniela and housekeeper Giovanna - the former, by the way, having an excellent command of English. More than anything we loved the quirkiness of the décor, furnishings and little objects collected and loved by the owner's family. To describe it as "shabby chic" doesn't do justice to the wealth of imagination and hard work that have gone into making this a home. We felt privileged to have shared that home, even if only for a few days. Cars under 1.75m wide include: fiat panda - 1.64, fiat 500 - 1.62; fiat punto - 1.68; VW polo - 1.68; peugeot 108 - 1.62; Peugeot 208 - 1.74; ford fiesta - 1.72; lancia ypsilon - 1.67; Renault clio - 1.73; audi a1 - 1.74; Nissan micra - 1.68.
