My husband and I took our first trip to Costa Rica and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. First of all, the quality of the casita and the furnishings were top notch. Everything was new, modern, and REALLY comfortable. I don't remember the last time we were so well rested on a vacation and I attribute it to how comfy the bed and the couch are (and the loveseat!). I also think it's because the place is clean.
We don't tend to do a lot of tours (Arenal Volcano, monkey island, etc) and we didn't take surf lessons, but if you are into that, there seem to be a number of options.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR ME (in addition to what I've listed already):
- Secluded and secure.
- The pool was perfect for cooling down after spending time walking around downtown Tamarindo
- Easy 10 minute walk to the beach, stores, restaurants (some restaurants were even closer than that). We didn't have a bad meal there and we ate EVERYTHING ... sushi, seafood, italian, asian fusion, american, and trad'l costa rican fare.
- Good trails for biking, running, or just generally exploring. Just bring water, bug spray, and good shoes. It's hot out there!
- If you have a rental car, it seems like it would be easier but my husband and I would drive and check out other beaches and we also went golfing at Tamarindo Golf & Beach resort which was only about 15 minutes away. SO BEAUTIFUL.
Jennifer is a great host and things went smoothly from the booking process to the check-out at the end of the week. She provided maps, restaurant guides, travel books, and her own personal recommendations of things to do during our week long stay. Though she very close by, it never felt intrusive. She was just a phone call away if anything came up - for us, nothing did but it was nice to know that the option was there.
I have already recommended this rental to friends and family who are thinking about visiting Costa Rica. I just want to go back myself and stay longer so maybe one of them will take me!
