USC v ND weekend

The location was ideal and the house was great. There was plenty of room for our family and extended family. The basement was a great space and the master bedroom was huge and comfortable. Bathrooms were very nice. Thanks for helping to make our weekend great—along with an awesome ND victory for all of our family alumni and fans!

Wonderful game weekend location

Our stay was wonderful for a Notre Dame home game weekend. The property owner was very responsive and communicated clearly regarding the logistics of our visit and what to plan for. The home offers a lot of space with several, discrete social areas that accommodates parents and kids. Everything was as described in the listing and worked great. The house has a large driveway that fit 5+ SUVs, so parking worked out well. And it's an easy trip over to campus, including both official parking lots and neighborhood parking options near campus. Overall, a really great game weekend experience!

Solid place for football trips

Wish it was more clear that pets normally lived in the house. It really affected several people who have allergies

Great, large house for Notre Dame events.

Great location. We’ll equipped. With LOTS of room for a group of thirteen family/friends for a ND football weekend. The house has plenty of room for folks to spread out and enjoy the weekend. It’s a little less than two mile walk to campus. But flat and really easy. (About 25 minute casual walk). Or about $8 Uber. Dan (the host) was helpful, and hospitality was over-the-top great!! Definitely on the “repeat visit” list.

Five Star!

Everything was wonderful: accommodations, location to ND campus, cleanliness, and convenience. But, above all, I can’t express how considerate and attentive the owner was. Dan (owner) was kind, attentive, and accommodating at every turn. It was like having a concierge service as part of your stay. The home was warm and spacious. It was a home away from our home (Scranton, PA). We’ll be back. Go Irish!

Great location and awesome owner interaction

House was in a great location near campus. Owner, Dan, was terrific in every regard. Great communication, accommodating, etc. Got extra propane when i told him i was having a cookout, left us extra clean coolers for cookout, towels and accessories were all ready when we got there. House was roomy and had a great yard. All in all, a great experience!!!

Our Second Stay Was Just As Great!

Great location, nice neighborhood. Owner is very accommodating and quick with responses. Great communication. Made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. This family home has everything you will ever need including a newly remodeled master bedroom and bathroom that made me feel like I had booked a luxury hotel room! We have traveled across the country twice now with nine family members to stay here for ND graduation weekends (2015 and 2018). This house is great for large groups not only for sleeping space but also for relaxing and large group entertaining space. Even though we had come from the furthest distance of any of our sons' friends, we were the ones that could easily accommodate and host the large gatherings of their friends and families during each of our stays. Everyone raved about the house and the space it provided for gathering indoors and out. We had kids playing games in the backyard, badminton in the front yard and basketball in the driveway with still room for adults to barbecue and mingle and sit and relax. No need to worry about the weather because if it gets dark or drizzly just step inside and there is plenty of space for everyone to gather there as well with an open kitchen, sun room, family room, living room, dining room, and basement. Perfect house! Great owner to work with. Great memories for us all to last a lifetime. Highly recommend staying here!

Very nice house, great spaces, lots of space to sleep

We stayed here for the ND v. Miami game and the house was a very nice find for us. We had lots of kids in the picture and they were very excited about all the spaces and the bunk beds. The kitchen and family room were great spaces to relax after a long gameday. We honestly didn't maximize the use of the backyard and entertaining spaces but for a big group those would be awesome.

The house was great! If you are going to South Bend, you should make this your place to stay.

The house was great. Spacious, clean and with lots of amenities. We had a bbq night in the back yard and sat among the beautiful flowers. Everything we needed for the weekend was provided. The owner was wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. If you are going to South Bend, you should definitely make this your place to stay.

Great Family Weekend

We had a great family weekend extended family. It was great to be able to grill some steaks instead of trying to get restaurant space for all of us. Walking home from the game was a great perk. We would definitely stay here again.

About the host

The listing is our family home. We have lived in South Bend since 1994. My wife and I are both Notre Dame alumni. We had founded a Montessori school in South Bend where Dan was head of school. After Felicia died in 2017, Dan spent a few more years at the school but then moved into a new position at Notre Dame. Dan and Felicia were both Notre Dame alumni, and we have five grown children living in Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, and South Bend. One son lives at home, but Dan now lives on campus with their two labrador retrievers. While the dogs are rarely at the house, and we do professionally clean it, we want you to know just in case you have allergies. We have been very happy in South Bend, and very happy in our home.

Why they chose this property

We moved into this home in 2010 to move closer to downtown and the children's schools. Previous to this we lived north of town. We enjoy this wonderful walkable neighborhood of brick homes and sidewalks. Friendly, personable neighbors make it a special place, close to downtown South Bend, the South Bend Farmers Market, and Notre Dame.

What makes this property unique

We ride bikes to Notre Dame, and on football weekends we often walk, without traffic and parking that can put you rather far from campus. We walk less than two miles to restaurants downtown. While Ironwood is a fairly busy street and we are on the corner of Cedar and Ironwood, the neighborhood is quiet, and our fence, built in fall 2014, creates a lovely private backyard despite the location on Ironwood. It is a wonderful place for outdoor entertaining.
