The Recker House offers a fully furnished five bedroom, 2.25 bathrooms guest house in Alta Vista, IA, a small town in northeast Iowa for short term rentals by the day, week or month. This property is a great place to host family gatherings, especially in conjunction with a second guesthouse, Grandma Z's, located directly across the street.

Homey, comfortable, 'gem of Northeast Iowa,' are all terms used by previous guests to describe this property and the one across the street. With five bedrooms (all with queen sized beds) and two full bathrooms plus an extra shower in one bedroom, your family will be comfortable while all under one roof.

A large living room on the main level opens to both the dining area and the kitchen. The lower level also has a large family room, dining area and kitchen with full sized appliances. The open space on the main floor allows for easy visiting with family members and accommodates a large group.

The main floor bathroom has a tub and shower combination and a stacked front load washer and dryer. A second front load washing set is located on the lower level. The lower level bathroom is equipped with a shower.

A covered patio with patio furniture, charcoal grill (guests provide charcoal and lighter) is located off of the garage.

The property was very adequate for our gathering. We were gone from the property for almost three different days to do an amusement park, The Grotto, wine tasting, and swimming/picnic at a local county park. We felt that the town was very small and we had to travel some distance to get anything we needed.

Best deal for the money. House was well stocked (pots, pans, even a Keurig) Host also provides paper towels, toilet paper and bath towels. Great comfy rooms and beautiful decor. Both comfy and classy. Plenty of room for a large group. Would definitely stay again.

We have lived in the area for all of our lives and offer this and six other guest houses in the area. We also rent traditional housing--apartments and houses.

Why they chose this property

After purchasing and starting Grandma Z's (the guesthouse that is located directly across the street), this home became available and since it makes great sense to offer families two houses in close proximity, we purchased this home!

What makes this property unique

This is a relatively large home, with full kitchens, living and dining areas on both floors. Guests like the open floor plan of the main floor when gathering larger groups of people for holidays, etc. The home has five bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed. A supply of toys and board games is kept in the closet of a main floor bedroom.
There is great pheasant and deer hunting in the area. A 25 mile plus bike trail starts four miles from this property. This community offers the benefits of small town living.
