Domme

The bastide of Domme a remarkable site with ramparts which surround the village and various doors which allowed access, like the Porte des Tours, which shows how much the king wanted to divert the possible attackers by imposing aesthetic constraints on the builders of fortifications.

The charm of Domme is undeniable, there reigns a particular atmosphere, calm and serene which soothes the soul as much as the exceptional panorama over the Dordogne valley which reveals both the castle of Montfort, the village of Roque Gageac and Beynac castle.

LA ROQUE GAGEAC

The village of La Roque-Gageac, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, is nestled between its cliff and the Dordogne. It benefits from a microclimate, almost Mediterranean, thanks to its southern exposure.

La Roque-Gageac aligns the white and ocher facades of its houses. Many small alleys lead to the foot of the cliff, from which one can enjoy a magnificent view of the river.

Next to the church halfway up the cliff and thanks to this natural solarium, there is an astonishing exotic garden made up of palm trees, banana trees, agaves, fig trees, cacti, bamboos…

By extending your walk, you will discover the Manoir de Tarde, a vestige of the Renaissance that still dominates the heart of the village.

BEYNAC

The small village of Beynac in Périgord is also one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is clinging to the rock pierced by caves, surrounding it with its alleys haunted by a millennial past. We must seek in the silence of its stones the answers to the questions that we ask about our roots and discover the time when the peasants, weavers and basket makers, fishermen and gabarriers, animated the life of the countryside and the banks of the river Dordogne.

CASTELNAUD

The Château de Castelnaud, classified as a Historic Monument, overlooks the Dordogne valley and offers a magnificent panorama over the sites of Beynac, Marqueyssac and La Roque-Gageac. This fortified castle is entirely devoted to the art of war in the Middle Ages and has a large collection of weapons and armor, life-size reconstructions of war machines. In addition, models allow a better understanding of the different modes of attack and defense of a medieval castle.

The LOT region which also offers many sites to visit.

Rocamadour

This sacred city is clinging to the cliff in a superposition of houses and chapels. From the castle crowning this audacious construction, there is a steep slope of some 150 meters at the bottom of which winds the Alzou river. On the way to Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, the Saint-Sauveur basilica and the Saint-Amadour crypt, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, are available to visitors after climbing the 216 steps of the pilgrim's staircase . The miraculous chapel, one of the 7 other chapels built in the hollow of the rock, shelters its jewel, the Black Virgin venerated for more than a millennium.

St-Cirq-Lapopie

The medieval village of Saint-Cirq Lapopie, which has 13 historic monuments, is also one of the most beautiful villages in France. Hanging on a cliff 100 meters above the Lot, Saint-Cirq Lapopie is one of the major sites in the Lot valley.

Chief town of one of the three viscounts of Quercy, Saint-Cirq Lapopie was divided in the Middle Ages between several feudal dynasties. As a result, several castles and fortresses made up the seigneurial fort and dominated the village. Below the fort, the village streets, closed by fortified doors, have preserved many old houses whose stone or half-timbered facades were built between the 13th and 16th centuries.
