About this property

Tucked off of a secluded back-road - a perfect place for a get-away.

Hummingbird Haven is tucked off a secluded, dirt, back-road. This log cabin, build in 1952, is peaceful and quiet. Birds entertain as you have morning coffee on the screened in porch. In the evening, watch lightning bugs dance. A haven with comforts of a forgotten time, and some modern amenities - just enough to be comfortable. There is endless hot water, an indoor bathroom, fresh spring water from the tap, a full kitchen, but no TV. Cell phone and internet usage are limited. Some phones have a bar or two on the corner of the porch, otherwise, phones work in the hayfield, or at the end of the drive. Hummingbird Haven invites you to disconnect and slow down for a moment. Take a break from hustle and bustle, walk back in time when life didn't move so fast. Leave feeling rested and happy about unexpected delights of your time here. Civilization isn't so distant. We are just 30 miles from downtown Nashville, 15 miles from historic Franklin, 10 miles from charming Leipers Fork, and 4 miles from the grocery in Fairview. This area, Fernvale, was once known as a much sought-after retreat. . We can promise hummingbirds. We do our best to create the experience you hope for when you take a holiday. For cyclists, we are 8 miles from the Natchez Trace. We have safe parking for your vehicle while you enjoy your ride. We hope you will come visit, time and time again.

P.S. We have a dog with a big bark. Her name is Patches and she's friendly, but could be skittish with you at first.

Gods country
My husband, 2 fur babies & I had a great time. We all enjoyed watching chipmunks, squirrels & all the different kinds of birds. The best part was watching the hummingbirds come in to feed. You can live without cell service, internet and the news!!! You learn that you can play games, talk to one another, read books and just listen to the radio. There are plenty of parks to visit and creeks to play in. Definitely a wonderful place to be!!! Dawn R.

Quiet Nights in the Valley
This is an absolutely wonderful property operated by kind and welcoming individuals! We took a break from my wife’s PhD studies to travel for a concert in Nashville, this lovely home was exactly the space we needed to unplug and unwind. The cabin is neat and cozy, with fascinating antiques and interesting pieces throughout - the care and creativity in the home decor is obvious from the moment you step in the door! The beds and furniture were all clean and very comfortable, terrific linens. It was quick drive into the city for the show, and Franklin and Leiper’s Fork offer nearby food and shops - Leiper’s Fork Distillery is a must try! We didn’t get a chance to dig into the history of the area, but obviously there is tons and Tony is so knowledgeable about local stops! Thr hosts have a true open door policy and we’re available for any questions we had or just a nice chat! The space was awesome for our anxious dogs, the seclusion of the property allowing them comfort and freedom when we went into town. We all loved watching the birds buzz around the screened in porch and the stars on a clear night are magnificent. We will definitely be returning in the future! Couldn’t recommend this stay enough for anyone looking to step away from the business of life for a bit. Thank you Tony and Daisy and Patches!

About the host

Hosted by Daisy Jabas or Tony Vincent

Host profile image
We have had a lot of our own travel experiences. Our goal is to make a restful renewing getaway for all that gift us with a visit. Daisy is a retired nurse, mental health advocate, likes to garden and quilt. She's a bit of a mischief maker, known as 'the straw that stirs the drink" of our Fernvale community. Last year she hiked 90 miles on the Appalachian Trail and is planning to do more this year. Tony, has a great sense of humor. He is a retired systems analyst/programmer, Montessori teacher, song writer/folk singer, bottle washer, supervisor and cohort.

Why they chose this property

Not fancy, clean and safe. Old fashioned, allows for a time to reconnect, to family, friends, yourself, and the quiet joy of life. A low stress community, where neighbors are friends. Limited internet and phone service does make it easier to disconnect. (There may be a little reception on a corner of the porch. There is good reception at the end of the drive).

What makes this property unique

An entire log cabin to yourself, with only birds to wake you. The cat probably will ignore you. We are friendly. The Innkeepers that are ever so happy to make sure you have what you need, as well as to sit on the porch and talk.
