About the host
Hosted by Mary Gion

My husband and myself, have owned our own business for the last 45 years. We have owned this property since 1989, and finally made the decision to move from Oahu to this beautiful island, and continue our small business but in a healthier environment. We love living on the Big Island, the people, the beauty, the space with lots to do. We are hoping to share a little bit of Aloha with our future visiting friends.
Why they chose this property
We purchased this property in 1989, because of the location, nature, the lush green vegetation, and the serene environment, with a little country feel, but still not far from the surrounding towns, for activities, shopping, hiking, beautiful beaches. We work in the Kohala Coast area, 2 days a week, and this allows us to enjoy all that this part of the Hamakua Coast has to offer. Within minutes you can be at the beach or viewing the many beautiful waterfalls that the Hamakua Coast has to offer. It is truly a nature lovers paradise.
What makes this property unique
We fell in love with this property, because of it's private location and beautiful trees, not to mention the adorable cottage, which we refurbished, before moving over from Oahu, in the year 2002. We added a new bathroom, new windows, a deck, a spa, a gas fireplace, it's very cozy and unique. We have 3 acres of a lush garden setting, beautiful lawn, lots of native plants, fruit trees, vegetable garden. We are approximately 5 minutes from Kalopa State Park, where you can take a leisurely walk and get in touch with nature. We are also a 4 minute drive or 20 min. walk to the Hawaiian Vanilla Company, that offers daily teas and lunches, and also tours of the vanilla farm. If you are looking for a romantic, cozy getaway, this is the place.
