Relax at Isle of Palms condo

Lovely four days at the beach! This unit is located in a large, busy rental complex with good beach access, a pool that keeps the kids happy, and busy parking lot. The porch overlooks the parking lot, looking toward the ocean, and gets a lovely sea breeze. The jnit is clean, comfortable and functional. It is an easy drive into Charleston and to John's Island, where there are lots of great restaurants and sites to visit.

A great spring getaway

We have stayed at the Sea Cabins many times over the years, we like that it is in the beach and close to Charleston is always a quiet and relaxing place. I don fish but I enjoy the pier. A great place to watch sunrises.

Reviewer Comments: property was well located but not the quality of what I had rented before.Comcast was scheduled and worked in our condo for half a day during our stay which meant we could not fix our lunch or rest midday. Also the office called our home phone rather than our cell phone so we had no idea until we found the condo unlocked and men working that anyone was in there.We were leaving the next day so why this work was not scheduled when the unit was empty did not make sense. Very disappointed with the way this handled.

Buyer beware - there is NO view!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very unhappy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo was OK. It was clean and equipped well. The decor was also cute. However, the kitchen island takes up WAY too much space, making it even crowded for 2 people in there at the same time. There’s a king size bed in the bedroom that also takes up way too much room. A queen, IMHO, would have been fine. This unit need some attention, lots of little things (loose faucet in the kitchen, slow draining tub, etc etc) that make the stay less comfortable. Most of all, being in building C, on the first floor, you have ZERO view. You cannot see over the dunes, and sitting on your balcony feels like being in a sauna. No breeze. We have never stayed in Sea Cabins before. Not sure we would again. But if we did, it would be on the 2nd or 3rd floor. On the plus side, it was economical and quiet. The pool was crowded but it’s summer, so lots of families on vacation. Great gated access to the beach. We had a couple of issues while there and called maintenance, they were extremely responsive and helpful!

Unit Needs Multiple Updates

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Although we would happily use Island Realty again, we would not book this unit. The unit is in need of many repairs and furniture replacements. At the time of our booking, the sleeper sofa was advertised as new but it had multiple stains, was very worn and had a stained slipcover over it which had to be removed in order to use the sleeper sofa. The bar stools are not the correct height for the counter so you are sitting at table level. We learned that the bunk beds can't technically be advertised as they are not up to code, so no ladder is provided to access the top bunk which is impossible for kids under 10 to get into by themselves (linens are also not provided for these bunks) . The front door is lacking weather stripping and there are large gaps allowing you to see outside. The bathroom is also in need of a fresh coat of paint to cover staining and bumps and the floor planks appear to be not professionally installed as there are many cracks and gaps.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This condo was ‘acceptable’ in that it was relatively clean. While it has its ‘pluses’, there are quite a few things we didn’t like. The description of the condo is deceptive. My husband and I took my mother for a long weekend. We were planning to put her on the ‘new sleeper sofa’. The sofa was a far cry from new. The sofa bed was extremely worn and uncomfortable, not to mention dirty. The space was so small, there was barely room to unfold the sofa. There was nowhere to put the coffee table and the bottom of the bed barely cleared the bar. There were two bunks, but no ladder to get to the top one and the mattresses were no good. Dont plan to put anyone other than a tiny child there. The main bedroom had a nice king bed, but there is literally 3” to get around the bed. Good luck getting to the bathroom without crawling across the bed. The foot of the bed is only a few feet from the front door. The bathroom was old and small. The kitchen was ok, but had no mixing bowls. The bar stools are the wrong height. You can’t get your legs underneath, but then you are too far (high up) from the counter to get your food in your mouth. For the pluses, it was quiet. It was clean enough (but could use a deep cleaning and some paint). It was easy beach access. The balcony was nice. The parking was excellent. The price was reduced by $200 a week after we booked, but the real estate company wouldn’t reduce our rate. I might stay again, but not for what we paid.

There is a door o separate the bunks from the main room which was good for us. However there is no railing on the bunks so bring your own. Several boogie boards and beach chairs were there already when we went. The chairs for the kitchen island are high but it would good for our small children- adults may find it uncomfortable. I liked that the property was located far enough from the stairs to deter noise but also not too far. Would stay again.

Not so relaxing vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property was overall very clean, however the dishes did have to be washed before use as they had visible food residue left on them. The rental was perfect for our stay, but we did have some inconveniences. The upstairs tenants had children running back and forth all hours of the night which disturbed the sleep of our infant. The beach access and private pool were amazing, but for our family we could only use at certain times of the day to ensure there was shade for our infant. I would highly suggest shade umbrellas in the pool area, as they are much needed! The pool restrooms were extremely convenient but the mixture of the heat without any airflow was unbearable. A mom with multiple small children in a bathroom with no fan/air ventilation and sweltering heat is not a good combination and I ended up extremely sick from the short time we were in there from overheating. I would still recommend this location to others, but for a family oriented place, there needs to be some upgrading to accommodate the small children, or even older adults that just cannot manage with the heat.
