Wonderful spot for some peace and quiet in the desert. My kids were even surprised to find a few toys to play with, it made their trip and kept them entertained. Perfect distance from the National Park while still having some solitude from the crowds. Eric answered my questions right away and was a great host. Would definitely stay here again!

Thank you for being easy, considerate guests! Really appreciate the care you guys took with our house.
Come back any time!
This is our 3rd time staying at this property. The main goal of our trip was to get away from the City. The quiet and solitude makes this place a perfect fit.
Thanks again Eric for being our host.

A desert home all your own!
We had a great time at Eric's place outside of Joshua Tree National Park. We spent last weekend there with our 3 kids and really enjoyed the break away from the LA scene. Everything was clean and stocked well. Beds were comfy and the views from the house are amazing! Eric was always prompt to answer my questions before arrival and instructions were easy to follow. All in all a great mini vacation for our family! Thanks Eric!

Served the need…
The location of the property is good - very close to Joshua Tree National Park. The cleanliness and presence of the house needs improvement (couch is torn and very stained, broken furniture, wipe out the fridge, clean the floors in the bedrooms and kitchen, throw out expired food items in pantry and fridge, and discard the expired toiletries that are in the bathroom). The outside of the house is in some disrepair. The owner did communicate check-in process prior to the visit which was appreciated. This could be a nice place with more attention to details that help improve the overall feel of the place.

Tatyana, I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy our home. I feel you paint a picture that is misleading, so I need to address this public review.
—The floors are distressed concrete, but clean. I swept, vacuumed and steam mopped the day before you arrived.
—This past fall I remodeled the bathroom, repainted the interior of the house and refinished half of the floors. The other half and the fascia outside will be done this summer.
—There were a total of two expired cans in the pantry and what little is in the fridge is dated 2025. “Expired toiletries”?
—The broken furniture you mentioned would have to be the little wicker chair holding the spare blankets in the bedroom. Consider it gone.
—Yes, I would love a new couch, but I feel like ”torn and very stained“ is a bit of an overstatement. It was shampooed in January.
The majority of guests across VRBO and another platform give me 5 stars on cleanliness and overall. The last guest before the remodel had some comments, but still left four stars. I have 80+ positive reviews.
I wish you’d contacted me with any issues. I’m sure we could have worked something out.
This is our little desert getaway that we share with our guests. It’s nothing fancy. Perhaps a hotel room would suit you better.
Magical nature & special house (but in need of some TLC)
Perfect Joshua Tree location! Feels private and peaceful, incredible star views and unobstructed views, while also being only 15 minutes to the main drag. House has a wonderful energy, Eric was an easy host to communicate with, and we loved playing the keyboard at the house. Unfortunately I do have to mention that the house is in need of a deep clean, as well as some repairs (wall behind toilet in bad shape, chipped paint and cement floor, lots of big spiders have moved...) It did affect our comfort with our toddler. But for someone else this issues may not be a bother. We still enjoyed having a place to rest our heads between being outside at the park.

Sarah, I am sorry you didn’t find the cleaning up to snuff. I want to assure you that I take this seriously. Since you mentioned cleaning in your inquiry, I came here the day of your arrival. I dusted, swept and steam mopped, vacuumed the large rugs and couches. I ran the small rugs through the washer. I cleaned the kitchen and bathroom and washed the windows. I washed the linens even though they were already clean.
The couches and rugs were shampooed in May. The chair cushions are brand new. I plan to gut renovate the bathroom this summer.
I don’t say this to argue, I want you to know that I made the effort, as I do for every guest. That said, I will step up my game.
I am refunding your cleaning fee. Please accept my apologies.
Serene with views. We spent our week hiking in Joshua tree national Park, and on the full moon, we night-hiked from the property up a rocky mountain, roughly a mile from the property for majestic nighttime views.
A huge plus for us was the remote nature of the property – it is a brief 10 minute drive from town, but for our family felt nice to have peace in the desert solitude. A couple pros that often go unmentioned: the beds are extremely comfortable! As I approach middle age, nothing can bring down a trip like a bad night of sleep, and I slept like a baby at this property. I actually contacted Eric to find out what the mattresses were 🤣 Eric was very responsive, and we felt very welcome.
The living room/hang out area is very warm, comfortable, and it’s good for a small group of people. Having stayed at two other VRBO properties in the area, they were both very nice, but lacked comfortable couches and ‘hang out’ chairs. The inside is colorful, clean, and has a very warm vibe. At the risk of being two new-agey, the place feels like there have been many happy gatherings. Word has it, you shouldn’t feed the neighbors goats!
If there were one thing that was maybe challenging, there isn’t a ton of space for dry food. This is irrelevant for most people who go out to eat. For us, we are foodies and like to prepare meals. Kitchen was very functional and was good for preparing meals.. We will definitely return!

Thanks for the great review, you get it! Yeah, the pantry has gotten kinda full. Of course I usually remember to tell guests they can eat or drink whatever they find in house. Maybe I’ll do a little purge…come back any time!
Eric's house is a great little escape from, well, everything. We spent a perfect weekend there hiking in the park and relaxing at the house. Thank you!
This is the 2nd time my nephew and I stayed at Milky Way.
It's somewhat, which is exactly what we were looking for. It's only a 10 minute drive to town.
And Eric is a faboulous host.
Once you find the place you’ll love it. The kitchen is well appointed and basically three bedrooms. Due babysitting issues our girls trip turned into kids joining our group. We had everything including baby goats to view. It’s was relaxing place and wonderful star gazing. Thanks Eric for sharing your place with my friends.
We had a great time during our stay here. The owner was very communicative and easy to get ahold of. Our energetic boys enjoyed all of the toys available for their use (baseball bats & balls, boomerangs, frisbees, etc). The house was well stocked and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again!
Eric was very responsive and the house was well suited for our needs. Its an excellent location for north or west access to the Joshua Tree National Park and has good grocery shopping options in Yucca valley or Twenty Nine Palms. The house is casual, well laid out with a lived in vibe. Everything worked. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. There was plenty of room for us 5 adults and our dog. Being isolated from town with lots of space outdoors worked well (for games and walking). Sunrises were beautiful.
The property was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, the location is perfect for anyone seeking space and solitude. Beds are comfy, the water is good, the house feels spacious despite it's compact size. The four of us had plenty of room.
Our host was nothing short of amazing. Easy to contact, friendly and extremely accommodating. Appreciate having all pots/pans and cooking utensils readily available for use. Try to wake up early to catch those amazingggg views (night/morning)
We had a fun family time. Very conveniently located property with plenty of room. The host was super easy to contact and welcoming. My husband wished for a swimming pool and later admitted we would have had no time for it even if there was a pool available. Lots to see and lots to do. We will return to explore the rest of the arear in the future.
This sweet house was just right for us! Being at the very edge of town with a wonderful view of the mountains gave a wonderful feeling of privacy. Perfect base for daily hikes at the national park. Loved it!
So close to JTNP entrance and helpful to all our weekend plans. Comfortable and relaxed. Our budding musicians enjoyed the keyboard and learning about our accomplished host.
