The moustache is a remaining part of portuguese history. Formerly related to village women, belly taxi drivers, typical street police officers amongst others.
Nowadays we look better, yet the moustache remains in our imagination. Did you noticed that in only 7 seconds you’ve learned something from our history that you don’t get to learn from books?
In these apartments you’ll be able to feel like a local, instead of a tourist. Situated in one, if not our most traditional p ortuguese neighborhood, you will be surrounded with our most famous monuments, best restaurants tasting unforgettable portuguese food while listening to some great Fado! At the end of the day, you will rest in a century-old, comfortable and bright house, enjoying the view of our Tejo river and Alfama neighborhood with everything you need, feeling as if you are at home.
THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Until this day, Alfama is still one of those places where you can find the more classical moustaches in the City. Get to know the most iconic monuments in the City, and those who carry inside the soul of the Fado and the Portuguese discoveries. The Tejo river is right around the corner, as well immediate transportation for any part of the city, the beaches or Sintra if you like. But before doing so don’t miss the following:
- Panteão Nacional: Contains the tombs of several Portuguese presidents, writer Almeida Garrett (one of the country's leading 19th century literary figures), and in recognition of her iconic status, Amália Rodrigues, the most famous Fado diva.
The building is on the plan of a Greek cross, and the interior is covered in beautiful, multicolored slabs of polished marble. It is crowned with a dome that provides a 360-degree view of the river and the city.
